Day of the Dead Mexican sugar skulls are a symbol of recognizing death as a part of life.By Kathy Cano-Murillo, The Crafty Chica

Dia de los Muertos is this Friday and Saturday, and one of the most celebrated traditions of the holiday is the art of face painting. In Mexico, those who celebrate the holiday paint their faces like skulls to embrace death as part of the cycle of life. And the designs are as diverse as the people who create them.

If you plan to paint your face this week in honor of Dia de Los Muertos, here are my tips:

    - Before you start, read up on the history.
    - Supplies: You can buy a kit at the store, but it is just as easy to use your own make-up. Eye shadow, liner, lipstick will work for color and outlining, so all you’ll need is a white base.
    - Many kits will come with applicators, I suggest using make up brushes instead for a more polished look.
    - Make sure to wash and moisturize your face first.
    - Keep make-up wipes on hand for easy clean up.

Here are some of my favorite Dia de los Muertos face paint video tutorials.

  • Jalapeno-Cilantro Deviled Eggs

By Liliana Moyano for Shine Latina

Latin deviled eggs with cilantro and jalapeno Latin deviled eggs with cilantro and jalapeno Even if deviled eggs are your favorite dish, having to peel so many hard-boiled eggs perfectly might make preparing deviled eggs your least-favorite cooking task.

My trick is to remove the eggs from the fridge and leave them out at room temperature before placing them in boiling water. To avoid cracking the shells, lower them into the pot with a spoon.

For an important gathering recently, I spiced up a traditional recipe that I loved: I used table cream, mustard, mayo and cilantro to the egg mix and topped the yellow filling with minced jalapeno, for a little kick. Try my new recipe below:

  • Are Oreos really as addictive as cocaine?

Lab rats reacted to Oreo cookies in much the same way the reacted to cocaine, found a study by Connecticut College researchers. The scientists found that Oreos actually excite the brain's "pleasure center" even more than cocaine!

The research study was investigating a connection between the marketing of high-fat, high-sugar foods and the rate of obesity in low-income neighborhoods. Finding a possibility for addiction to everyone's favorite cookie was not in their plan.

So, does this mean eating too many Oreos will send you to cookie rehab? Check out Desi Sanchez below for more info on possible cookie monsters.
