  • Celebrities Walk The Runway For The Heart Truth Red Dress Collection

Every year, The Heart Truth (a program of the National Institutes of Health) puts on a runway show at New York Fashion Week, enlisting the help of celebrities like Kelly Osbourne and Olympic gold medalist Gabrielle Douglas to model red designer dresses on the catwalk. More importantly, though, they are helping raise awareness for heart health by motivating other women to make positive choices to lower their risk for heart disease, and remind them that heart disease is preventable. It’s always an exciting, lively event and who doesn’t love fabulous fashion for a great cause?

  • Fashions From The '90s Make a Comeback

No, we're not talking about overalls and bucket hats--thank goodness. We've rounded up the fashion and beauty trends of the decade that made a splash and are back and better than ever.

Floral babydoll dresses -  Making a big comeback are floral dresses. These girly frocks made famous on shows like "Blossom" and "My So-Called Life," we like styling these looks with tights and either Mary-Jane platforms or of-the-moment ankle boots.
Let's talk about lace – Back then, it was body-conscious minis with lace panels and detailing were all the rage—now, we like those same kind of shortened-hem dresses with longer lace sleeves.

Do your ear(rings) hang low? – Shoulder-dusters,  door-knockers…whatever you called them, these oversized earrings were BIG in the '90s—literally. Today's statement-making earrings are still shoulder-grazing, but are more refined and restrained than the ubiquitous giant, embellished hoops.

Beauty buzz – Thanks to '90s stars, voluminous hair and supermodel-sized lips were

  • How To Shine Like The Stars

Polly Blitzer, the expert behind BeautyBlitz.com, has all the celebrity secrets to glowing skin. As they’re deep in the thick of awards season, stars are working extra hard to look good despite hectic schedules--just like you! Follow Blitzer's tips and you'll be looking as good and radiant as any red carpet regular in no time.

Get glowing - Blitzer cannot emphasize enough the importance of washing your face. Never use bar soap, as they're often too harsh, she says, and instead upgrade to a creamy cleanser. After you've scrubbed that pretty face clean, be sure to moisturize. Blitzer recommends using Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream. It packs a hydrating punch and has a new amino peptide complex that helps fight the appearance of skin fatigue (plus, reduces the appearance of up to 10 years of wrinkles!).

Bright eyes - There's no denying your eyes are the focus of your face, so be sure to treat them right! Brighter, firmer eyes and thicker lashes are just a few steps away with

  • Awards Season Style Trends

On the latest episode of The Thread, host and style expert Jay Manuel sat down with beauty guru Polly Blitzer to learn about the big trends we’ll be seeing lots of this year. From nude nails to "double-duty power pouts," Jay and Polly illustrate which "it" trends will have you ahead of the style curve.

Unexpected metallics - Forget silver and gold, and think vivid, iridescent blues and greens for your lids. For a subtle take on the trend, Blitzer suggests rimming your lower lash line with shimmering color and lots of no-clump mascara like COVERGIRL's Clump Crusher Mascara.

Punchy pouts - Ruby reds and watermelon were seen on many spring 2013 catwalks, from Missoni to Moschino. Trade in your gloss for a subtle "power pout"--COVERGIRL's LipPerfection Jumbo Gloss Balm in Watermelon Twist or Scarlet Twist have just the right amount of sheer color AND are super moisturizing. Say goodbye to gloopy glosses that dry out your lips!

Nearly-naked nails - Phew! Take a break from the time-consuming

  • Winter Fashion Blunders

We may be dressing to survive the arctic temperatures outside, but that doesn't mean we can't look cute. With every season comes new style guidelines, and winter has its very own set of fashion blunders. Thread host and supermodel Jessica Stam is here with the worst of the worst--these are the trends to avoid!

Cut-offs and thigh-high boots - Despite the flurry of celebrities choosing to wear this trend, this is a definite no. This pairing comes off looking a bit more "Pretty Woman" than pretty. If you want to try for shorts this winter, don't reach for your Daisy Dukes. Opt instead for a dark color layered over tights and wear with ankle boots or oxfords.

Leggings as pants - Don't get us wrong, leggings are fine for winter--as long as your top covers your behind. Just remember: leggings do not equal pants. Say no to cropped sweaters that hit at your waist and try to treat your leggings like hosiery. If there's no structure or zipper to them, they're more like tights than pants.
