  • Girl Scouts Respond to Indiana Lawmaker's 'Radicalized' Remark

What started as a letter to Indiana House Republicans has turned into a national story, as a lawmaker claims that the Girl Scouts are a "radicalized organization" that supports abortion and promotes "homosexual lifestyles" while "sexualizing young girls through the Girl Scouts."

State Rep. Bob Morris (R-Fort Wayne), made his remarks in a letter sent to his fellow Indiana House Republicans on Saturday, which was obtained by the Journal Gazette of Fort Wayne. According to several U.K. publications, Martin costs British taxpayers an estimated 50,000 pounds a year -- the equivalent of about $78,600 -- which he defended to the Daily Mail on Tuesday, saying "It's either that or I would end up dead. Until people have lived like it, they can't judge."

He compared his need for assistance to that of smokers or rock climbers who get stuck.

The story has caused outrage, as the
