  • Lessons in Layering: The Supermodel-Approved Styling Trick That's Perfect for Unpredictable Fall Weather

    by Fawnia Soo Hoo

Getty ImagesGetty ImagesIt's all about layering this season--especially when the weather is so up and down--so take advantage of the opportunity and try it the supermodel-approved way.

Of course Miranda Kerr has the lock down on a breezy, "oh, I just ran out of the house and look street style ready" approach to layers. But it really is that easy. She started with a light and versatile foundation of a slubby white tee and distressed denim skirt (which could just as easily be a weekend top and jeans or a work-friendly shift dress) then added on a fitted black blazer, and finally topped the look with a boxy, mid-thigh-length Givenchy wool coat in the same hue.

To avoid any bulky, bunchy lines and stay fashion editor-chic, Miranda threw the coat over her shoulders as a cape. This technique also serves a functional purpose for when it's kinda chilly, but not outright cold or you want to try out the cape-look, but aren't

  • Could You Possibly Be a Fashion Hoarder? Our Experts Weigh in on What to Keep and when to Purge

    by Brenna Egan

Getty ImagesGetty ImagesLast year, when Jeana Sohn of one of my fave bookmarked blogs, Closet Visit, wanted to profile my closet, I had a major awakening. I realized my entire home was a closet. Clothing racks invaded every inch of my office (see above for proof), shoes doubled as "art" on bookshelves, and, yes, bags were forever in fear of being accidentally baked in the oven. Remember, people, I live in L.A., so I have space in spades, and zero excuses. Could I be a...fashion hoarder? After our shoot, where I carefully art directed around my organized piles of chaos, I realized it was time to bring in the big guns.

Enter Christos Garkinos, of the divine consignment store Decades (and Dukes of Melrose fame), and Elizabeth Kott, behind online resale mecca Closet Rich, who both helped me realize that I was keeping clothes for every excuse under the sun ("But my daughter will thank me for this someday" about a random H&M dress, and "I wore that to an epic Beck concert 10 years ago"

  • Behati Prinsloo is Going to Help Codesign Adam Levine's Kmart Line for Women

    by Danica Lo

Maroon 5 lead singer and The Voice coach Adam Levine may not need any help in the dressing-himself department--he always looks fiiine and his Kmart line for men is doing gangbusters, to boot--but as far as designing women's wear goes? Turns out he needed a hand.

According to a report in the Telegraph, Levine's men's line at Kmart did so well that the retailer is working with the musician on a women's collection. Guess who's going to be helping Levine out with it. His fiance, Victoria's Secret supermodel Behati Prinsloo.

"Recognizing he has a strong female following, we always felt he would be viable in women's," Sears--Kmart's parents company--president and CEO Bernt Ullman said. "As much as Adam has a strong point of view, he also has a very high-profile girlfriend, and he is very comfortable in allowing her to have a voice in the development of the women's line. She too is very authentic when it comes to

A bright blue beanie provides a necessary pop of color.

What do you think of the Olivia's and Jamie's outfits? Who wore the pants better?

Just in time for the holidays! Here's the perfect gift for the man in your life--if you are overprotective or he just happens to be in a line of work that gets him in gunfights every now and again.

Canadian bespoke tailors Garrison Bespoke have just launched the first-ever fashion-forward bulletproof suit--yes, as in a suit-you-wear-to-the-office suit. So now you can dispense with those cumbersome bulletproof vests--so sporty but, let's face it, not aesthetically ideal for dinner at the Four Seasons--and pop on a smart pinstripe jacket instead.

"After receiving requests from high-profile clients who travel to dangerous places for work, we set out to develop a lightweight, fashion-forward bulletproof suit as a more discreet and stylish alternative to wearing a bulky vest underneath," co-owner and tailor Michael Nguyen said.

Sounds like a no-brainer to us--we're guessing this suit will be in great demand by

You might be fined $500 for wearing these underwear-baring sheer pants in Opa-locka, Fla. (Getty)You might be fined $500 for wearing these underwear-baring sheer pants in Opa-locka, Fla. (Getty)Back in 2007, Opa-locka, a town located in Miami-Dade County in Florida, was one of the first to pass a local ordinance banning low-riding, saggy pants on men--a law that some people felt was unfairly targeting specific groups of people, especially those interested in hip-hop music and culture. Last week, maybe to make it more fair or something, the local government decided to extend the ban to include women.

Now, in Opa-locka, it's illegal for women to wear any pants that expose any underwear or undergarments in public. Accidentally bend over to reach something on a low shelf at at supermarket and your undies peek out over your jeans? That'll be a $500 fine, ma'am.

And just in case this all sounds like one big joke--after all, don't law enforcement officers have anything better to do than to walk around arresting people for not wearing high-waisted trousers?--rest assured it's for real. So far in 2013, the

    by Fawnia Soo Hoo

Getty ImagesGetty Images Remember when we talked about how a black dress can be oh so much more than a LBD? Well, let's add one more to the list. At the premiere of her movie Big Sur last night, Kate Bosworth absolutely stunned in this Grecian column dress from the Christopher Kane spring 2014 collection. (Fun fact: She met her husband, director Michael Polish, on the set of the movie.) The floral bejeweled collar and waist detail are downright dazzling--adding flecks of color and sparkle but with a glamorous retro-touch. While the embellishments make the need for accessories almost unnecessary, Kate sneakily edged up the look with a diamond-encrusted spiky ear cuff by Ana Khouri, who also made the beautiful bracelet.
