We've been schlepping ourselves over to Lincoln Center this week to get the tips, tricks, and products makeup artists and hairstylists have been spritzing backstage on the models. Though a lot of trends won't roll out till Spring 2011, we managed to snag some beauty tidbits that can be used right now, if not sooner.
Lesson #1: Even Models Need Some Skin TLC
For those who think models wake up with a clean, sparkling face ready to be dolled up - think again. Chris Benz partnered up with Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing System to get the models skin smooth, glowing, and squeaky-clean. Not only did this immediately enhance their complexion, it made putting makeup on that much easier. If you're worried your skin might be too sensitive for a cleansing system, try Cetaphil, which works for all skin types.
Wash your face every night to take your makeup off and only wash in the morning if you've forgotten the previous night (gasp!) and have makeup residue. Washing too much can dry the skin out,

1. You hate wasting food, so you always eat until your plate is clean.
Either way, the food is going to waste - depending on whether you spell it "waste" or "waist," reminds Nancy Braack, a Weight Watchers leader in Omaha. "Put less on your plate to begin with. It's okay to go back for seconds, but you may find that you're satisfied with the smaller amount." If you're eating out at a restaurant, ask for a to-go box and wrap up a portion immediately so it's out of sight. And besides, those leftovers could be tomorrow's lunch! 20s: Keep Your Bright Shades
Lucky for us, just because summer is over doesn't mean you have to retire your favorite vibrant shades for the season. "Color is still in!" says Makeup Forever West Coast educator David Hernandez. Just be careful what you do with that color: Pick an area you want to punch up and mute the rest. Try a bright lip, like Maybelline Color Sensational in Bitten Berry, $6.99. If it's the eyes you're kicking up, go for NARS Palladium Soft Touch Shadow Pencil, $24 paired with your favorite sheer gloss like Essence XXXL Shine in Rising Star, $1.99.
When it comes to your skin, you should be taking preventive measures to ward off aging and spots from sun damage, says celebrity skin-care guru Sonya Dakar. Start early with a two-in-one foundation and

It may be a favorite for breakfast, but you might want to pair a bowl of oatmeal with some coffee to make it through the day. "Grains in oatmeal trigger insulin production much like whole-grain bread," says Cynthia Pasquella, CCN, CHLC, CWC. "They raise your blood sugar naturally and make you feel sleepy. Oats are also rich in melatonin, which relaxes the body and helps you fall asleep."

As we speak, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is in full swing at Lincoln Center in New York City. And although designers are currently showing what will be considered hot for next spring, we looked to the archives of this past February's shows, (when designers showcased their trends for this fall) to see what came down the runway for this current fall. Since we're more about beauty than fashion here, let's have a look at some of the worst hairstyles and makeup ideas that were just, well, silly. The Smoky Eye Gone Wrong
This look to the right has us flashing back to college, and we're doing the walk of shame home from the frat house after a night of partying. If the top lid stood alone, this look would work, but the heavy liner on the lower lid takes it to another (scary) level. If you find that your eyeliner tends to drip, use a gel-based one and apply a thin layer of powder over it to keep migration at a

While spending hours enjoying the warmth of the summer sun felt amazing at the time, your hair has definitely reaped some of the damage. Problem: After many dips in the pool, there's a gross amount of mineral buildup in your hair.
Solution: Constant exposure to chlorine can cause your locks to look dull and feel dry. (There's a reason to wear a swim cap!) "Your best bet is a clarifying shampoo," says Wella Professionals Lead Color Ambassador Aura Friedman. "The more buildup you have, the longer you should leave it on before rinsing." For example, if your locks have a visible greenish tint, try leaving it on for around five minutes. Try Suave Daily Clarifying Shampoo; $2.19.
Problem: Tons of sunlight has caused your hair color to fade.
Solution: "The best way to richen up sun-bleached strands is a gloss treatment," says Friedman. "I recommend Wella Professionals Color Touch, a
When it comes to skin problems we can't control, like stretch marks, we like to recall the words of dermatologist Dr. Howard Murad, who tells us: "Try not to be perfect." He says if he could impart one piece of advice to women, it would be: "Don't let skin imperfections be the bane of your existence. Don't focus on them. Do what you can to minimize them and focus on what's beautiful about you." Related: Sneaky Problems That Are Brewing Under Your Skin
So let's be quick about this. Stretch marks happen when the elastic fibers deep in the skin are damaged, often caused by pregnancy, puberty, rapid weight gain, and muscle building. They can appear anywhere but most commonly hit us where it hurts the most: around the belly button, on the breasts, buttocks, hips, thighs, and arms. While there are a number of ways to minimize them, there is no way to make them disappear completely.
Laser treatment. Fractional laser therapy, says Dr. Brian Zelickson, a faculty member at theRead More »from 4 Solutions to Minimize Your Stretch Marks

We'll be honest-we never really got what a "dewy" look entailed. It just didn't make sense to us. Are you supposed to look moist (like grass on a cool morning), or just slather on loads of makeup to make it look like you're not wearing any?Read More »from Straight from the Runway: The Answer to What the Heck a Dewy Face is Supposed to Look Like
As it turns out, neither is the case. Backstage at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, the Maybelline team heading up the BCBGMAXAZRIA Spring 2011 show told us that a dewy look is supposed to give you a natural, fresh-looking face. The purpose is to not cover up every blemish and mark on your skin but instead give you a restful, rosy glow. Even more, a dewy look done right means you won't even feel your makeup, which is nice when the temperatures rise above 90 degrees and you find yourself sweating up a storm.
The best thing about this trend is that it is definitely not seasonal - amazing skin never goes out of fashion! If you want to get a fresh complexion in three steps, try these products that Maybelline used backstage on the models:
