  • The Single Most Important Mindset Shift You'll Ever Make

    By GalTimer Stephenie Zamora

Are you feeling unhappy and unfulfilled with your life, work or relationships? Are you looking to live a healthier, more active and energetic life? Whatever it is you're looking to create or change, you've probably spent a lot of time seeking out the right self-help guru, affordable program or perfect book. I know from experience that there's a lot of self-help out there to choose from and you'll likely spend a ton of time and money searching for the perfect solution.

But I've got some awesome news for you...

Despite the various packaging and marketing, all personal development boils down to one simple concept: Personal responsibility.

Personal responsibility is about taking 100% responsibility for everything that manifests in your life. Your successes, your failures, the way others treat you, your health, your happiness, your finances, etc.

But I want to make one thing very clear, it's not about blame.

  • Would You Broadcast Your Pregnancy Test on YouTube?

    By Marianne Beach, GalTime.com

I'm now eight months pregnant. And I still haven't officially "Facebooked" my pregnancy.

Sure, if you read my wall or browsed my photos, it would be pretty obvious that I'm with child. It's not like it's a secret or anything. But I couldn't help but feel weird broadcasting a big announcement or an ultrasound photo to everyone on my list.

I guess at first, I felt a little superstitious--about saying things too early and jinxing the pregnancy before it really got going. And then I wanted to make sure I'd told all my closest friends and family in person--not wanting them to complain that they only found out I was knocked-up through social media. And then...I don't know. I guess it started feeling too late. Like, by the way, I've been keeping an online secret from you all these months. So I finally just made the decision to wait until my baby girl is born--to officially share her with the online world. (Four weeks and counting...arghh!)

  • Top 5 Myths Women (Still) Believe About Men

By Straight Male Friend's Marcus Osborne for GalTime.com

Women offer other women an incredible amount of uninformed advice, misinformation and mythology about what motivates men whether they're single, married, or in a long-term relationship. This was the impetus behind StraightMaleFriend.com. With all due respect, women simply don't know as much about men as they think they do. And of course us poor guys know zilch about women.

Truth be told, I actually reached out to a handful of guys to guest write for SMF and the general response was, "What? Hell no! I'm not gonna be the one givin' up the secrets!" So you see? Your SMF's are risking permanent expulsion from the "Man Club" by giving up the goods here. But we've got a job to do!

  • What's the Worst Experience to Have on a Plane?

    By Shira Scott, GalTime.com

What's worse... sitting next to a screaming kid during a crowded flight or settling in next to a person who smells....really bad? The DDB Life Style Study asked Americans what they considered the most unpleasant experience to have on an airplane.

The worst of the worst? Sitting next to somebody with strong body odor. It was the choice of 64% of the participants.

23% consider getting the seat next to a crying baby the worst. Parents with kids five or under were more tolerant of this "annoyance."

"Considering there are several movements currently taking place to create family-only sections of aircrafts, we were surprised to find that crying babies didn't rate higher as an annoyance to airline travelers," said James Lou, U.S. Chief Strategist at DDB. "There has been a lot of press indicating that people wish there were child-free flights. Stories of lawsuits about passengers claiming hearing loss as a result

  • Forget Your Wallet, Pay With Your Phone!

    By Ann Ehnert, GalTime.com

Picture this all too familiar scenario: You walk into a store and begin to browse the aisles searching for that one item you just need to purchase. You get distracted and end up piling eleven additional items into your cart - whoops! Finally, you are ready to check out...until you realize you forgot to pick up the one item that brought you to the store in the first place. Quickly, you grab the forgotten item and grab a spot in the checkout line. The line takes forever (well, it seems like it anyway) and you just want to get home. You rush to the finish line. Just one more hurdle - the person ahead of you just pulled out her checkbook! Ugh...you resign yourself to wait some more....

Now imagine this: After finally reaching checkout and your items are rung up, you don't even need your purse or wallet to finish this transaction. All that is required for payment is your mobile phone. Speeding up the process and avoiding additional frustration, you quickly tap

  • Stop Yourself From Becoming a 'Stage 1 Clinger'!

    By Marianne Beach, GalTime.com

We've all been there. You've met a new guy. You've gone on a date or two. And you can't stop thinking about him. Or talking about him. Or obsessing to see if he's emailed/called/texted/tweeted/or posted on your wall in the last five seconds. And so you check...and re-check your phone or your Facebook or your email--over and over again. You know it's irrational, but you just can't seem to stop.

Well, you can blame it on biology, says Rebecca Gladding, MD, author of the new book "You are Not Your Brain."

"Desire, feeling a connection with someone special, hope for a future with someone and love are some of the strongest positive emotions we can have," she says. "When you feel like that, you never want it to end. And, when you have contact with him, especially at the beginning, you feel that wonderful rush over and over. That's why you're dying to see if he's contacted you - it feels good."

And that "good" feeling acts as a reward to your brain,

  • Ombre Nails: Nail the Look

    By GalTime Editor Kerri Winick

Last summer, ombre hair had its moment in the sun. This season, ombre nails are making their mark among beauty mavens. This trendy mani involves reaching for five different nail polishes of the same tone. The darkest laquer is layered on your pinky. The color then fades gradually, with the lightest landing on your thumb. How can you nail this look at home? GalTime and celebrity manicurist Skyy Hadley show you how!

Step 1: Apply a clear base coat to your nails.

Step 2: Choose a deep/dark color that complements your skin tone. This will be your base color. Paint it on your pinky. Skyy recommends a dark brown shade for lighter skin tones, a deep grey or purple for medium/olive skin tones, and a deep burgundy for darker skin tones.

Step 3: Pour a dime-sized drop of your base color onto a paper plate. Using a toothpick, mix in one small drop of white polish. This will create a polish one shade lighter than your pinky.
