  • Trend Alert: Fabulous Feathers!

Fashion has literally gone to the birds this fall. Dozens of designers sent feathers down their Fall 2011 runways, creating a floating, carefree and luxurious feeling. That translates to pieces that are fresh and festive for a party (like Charlize Theron and Eva Longoria's looks) or an elegant accent on a gown (similar to Beyonce's). From dresses to skirts to accessories, feathers, including the various implementations below, are must-buys for fall.

    Party Plummage
Feathers are the new fringe; keep accessories minimal with a dress like this one from Guess ($128) so your look don't compete with itself.

    Skirt the Issue
Add balance to this brazen Zara skirt ($129) with an unexpected top (a dark denim jacket or leather bomber, a white button-up blouse).

    Sensational Skirts Fall Skirts

    Aerial Accessories
If you're not comfortable going with the proverbial flock, accent your wardrobe with a subtler example of this trend, such as this flirty feather clutch

  • Celebrity Trend Alert: Magnificent Menswear

The women in Hollywood who consistently wear menswear flawlessly, including Charlize Theron, Evan Rachel Wood and Jennifer Aniston, know the key rule is to add feminine touches; Sure they may borrow suspenders or a hat from the boys, but the rest of their outfit is cut to the female form. The outfits above are cases in point. A satin blouse balances Charlize's wide-leg trousers; a bustier and layered necklaces work for Evan Rachel; and peek-a-boo lace keeps Jennifer's look soft. Plus, they all added killer heels to their outfits. If you want to master the menswear look, add any of the three following masculine styles to more womanly wears.

    A Vest
Wear a vest, such as this $13.19 steal from Sears, with a lace bra showing for nighttime (as Jen did) or pair it over a blouse (with rolled-up sleeves) for the office.

    A Jacket

Look for a slim cut, like this $29.99 Mossimo blazer from Target, which contours the body for a sexier, more feminine silhouette.

  • Celebrity Trend Alert: Sheer Style

Yes, sheer is beautiful and timeless. But even better is the way it can guide the focus to your best asset, whether it's your legs, tummy, or arms. Take a lesson from the stars: the eye goes straight to the sheer over Gwyneth Paltrow's middle, Minka Kelly's arms, and Kerry Washington's legs. It's revealing, but in a subtle way. Draw attention to yourself with one of these stunning styles.

    Hint o' Leg
Skirts and dresses accentuated with sheer fabric, such as this American Apparel maxi ($69.84), accentuate the legs, especially when paired with heels.

    Stripe Tease
From peek-a-boo at the chest to an ab reveal, a little bit of sheer provides a subtly sexy look. Slip on this dress from ASOS ($52.38) to get the effect.

    Arm Flirt
Revealing but not blatant, the sheer arm is a throwback to old Hollywood, and an elegant way to rock the trend. We like the patterned addition of this A|Wear's belted midi ($69.84 at Asos).

  • What Not to Buy at Payless

Payless made a name for itself by selling trendy shoes, boots, and accessories-at affordable prices. But it still can be a bit of an enigma. The store is in practically every mall and is always brimming with people. Still, browsing the aisles it can be hard to decide whether or not to actually buy anything-unless you have the following list. Here, we review what's worth buying and what should be left on the shelf during your next visit to Payless.

    Women's Boots

Generally speaking, it's wise to stay away from the boots at Payless-particularly knee-high boots. Payless boots tend to be made from PVC (aka plastic) and they aren't very well made. There are exceptions; some of the American Eagle and Airwalk boots aren't bad. Still, it's probably best to shop elsewhere for your fall and winter boot purchases-especially if you want them to last more than one season.

When it's time to select your signature scent, stick to the department stores. The

  • 5 Surprising Health Benefits of Beer

With Oktoberfest celebrations in full swing, it's the perfect time to justify all the beer drinking you may be doing in the coming weeks. While the health benefits of red wine are frequently reported, the plus-sides to beer aren't as widely known. So, pour yourself a pint and check out these five reasons to imbibe-in moderation, of course. Prost!

    1. Reduce Your Risk of Heart Disease
According to several studies, including one conducted at the Institute of Epidemiology at the University of Muenster, moderate beer drinking reduces the risk of coronary heart disease. The reasons are simple: Alcohol can increase HDL-or "good" cholesterol-levels and reduces the chances of hardening of the arteries and thickening of the blood-two main contributors to heart attacks.

    2. Drink Your Vitamins

Years ago, Guinness used the slogan "Guinness is Good for You." It looks like they might have been right. According to a Dutch study conducted at the TNO Nutrition and Food Research Institute, beer

  • 2011’s Best Pop-Culture-Inspired Halloween Costumes

Classic Halloween costumes, such as a witch or ghost, are worn year after year. But there are some costumes that are only culturally relevant once (except, perhaps for Lady Gaga and Michael Jackson, who are repeatedly imitated). They're the hot ones everyone's buzzing about-ripped right from 2011's top entertainment news headlines. These are the ones we're predicting will be everywhere this Halloween.

    1. Glee's Sue Sylvester

    Spirit Halloween, $50

Two episodes into her third season, Glee's sharp-tongued athletic coach Sue Sylvester proves she's still on top by delivering some of the most laugh-out-loud-funny one-liners we've heard and hurling endless insults at her nemesis Will Schuester, including mocking his affinity for wearing vests by addressing him as "Weepy the vest clown." This year for Halloween, Sue's outfit is sure to be a hit because it's feared 'round the nation-and incredibly comfortable. Made up of a red track suit, white sneakers, whistle, and wig, this
