  • How to Style Spring Scarves

Lynn Roberts of ECHO Designs shares with us some tips about shopping for and styling with scarves for the spring and summer seasons!

    Kate Moss Exhibit Gets Axed!

The scarf is the most non-committal article of clothing when it comes to transition season dressing. Somehow adding a scarf manages to never look too wintry or too summery - providing the convenient illusion that you are ever season-appropriate. Short shorts and a t-shirt look justifiable on a cloudy 62-degree day when topped with a scarf.

Lynn Roberts, Vice President of Advertising and Public Relations for ECHO Designs shares with us some tips about shopping for and styling with scarves for the Spring and Summer seasons!

StyleCaster: Which scarf shape do you prefer: rectangle or square? Or is there a particular size that is more diversifying than another?

Lynn Roberts: That's such a hard question to answer as they are both so different. I love oversized rectangulars as you can do so much with them. Then again I love the

Spring Cleaning 101: Decluttering Your Closet

As T.S. Eliot once said, "April is the cruelest month." For many people, spring means the onslaught of seasonal allergies. It can be a real drag when you're unable to enjoy the warm weather due to a case of itchy, watery eyes and a sneezing fit that sounds like a twenty-one gun salute. Before you stock up on medication, take a look around your home. Your living conditions may in fact be the number one contributor to your symptoms. Check out this list of tips and tricks to make your home allergen-free.

    1. Foolproof your bed

First thing's first-- start with your bedroom. According to WebMD, "allergies are an abnormal response of the immune system where the body's defenses react to a usually harmless substance in the environment, such as pollen, animal dander, or food." One of the most common allergy

The Hottest Satchel to Carry for Spring

Despite the recent cancellation of her MTV talk show It's On With Alexa Chung, the quirky Brit still has plenty going for her in the way of style. SJP NYC: The New Fragrance Inspired by Carrie Bradshaw

We had the pleasure of an exclusive meeting recently with Zoe Kravitz at a Vera Wang Princess event and learned just how adorable she really is. She's the perfect face of the fragrance-- glam, gorgeous, and well-mannered (and stylish, of course). She told us all about her secret addiction to tiny tattoos (she has 19 and counting) and her obsession with coconut oil (she uses it instead of lotion).

We determined that she fits into a couple of different style types-- rocker, since she sings in the band Elevator Fight, and also slightly boho in her manner of dressing. Zoe remarked that her look is best found in flea markets. She gravitates towards "tattered and worn pieces that contrast"-- aka the perfect bohemian girl. However, as the face of Vera Wang Princess, she filled us in on a little secret-- she definitely does like to dress up every once and a while. Her advice to everyone searching for their inner pretty-girl royalty--

Spring Ponytails - How to Pump Up the Volume

    Dear Beauty Banter,

Curls look gorgeous on stars on the red carpet, but my stick-straight hair can never manage to hold a curl. Is there a way to get these curly styles without ending up with limp, flat hair by the end of the day (or night)?

    Sick of Limp Strands

    Dear Sick of Limp Strands,

I have two suggestions. If you are using a curling iron, I would apply Redken Full Frame 07 Mousse, or for more hold-- Redken Guts 10 Spray Foam Mousse to damp hair. Let your hair air dry or blow it dry lightly. Once it is dry, if you require even more hold, spray each section with Redken Workforce 09 Flexible Hairspray before curling. Keep in mind to always let hair cool down and set before any additional styling, or before breaking up of the curl.

If you have time to use curlers or hot rollers, you can use the same techniques. Remember to always let your curls cool and set for as much time as you have. The longer it sets, the longer it

Determine your most important products' shelf life, and when it's time to hit the beauty counter for some restocking.

Makeup Artist Carmindy Shows Us How to Brighten Up Our Look

As a beauty editor, one of the perks of the job is free samples. And as an extremely OCD beauty editor, each time I get in a new sample I make it my priority to test it right away and put it in its proper place. Let's just say, I get a bit overwhelmed when my desk becomes a cluttered mess. So, when these products find their way into my bathroom and cover my sink so that I can no longer see the surface, that's when I realize it's time to do a bit of spring cleaning.

Below, find my list of key things to look for when cleaning out your makeup drawer (and wherever else your beauty products have landed)-- plus some tips for salvaging your favorite products.

    1. Concealer and Foundations

Concealer has a shelf life of up to one year, while face powder lasts up to two years (for both pressed and loose powders). Since

Be a girl in uniform this season.
The Lake & Stars Spring Collaboration with Urban Outfitters

L to R: Balmain, Charlotte Ronson, Nanette Lepore, Rag & Bone, Stella McCartney Spring 2010 Runways

Although the straight-laced definition of "utilitarian" is more about need that want, Spring 2010's lineup of military-inspired looks has us thinking more style than ranks. The combat-meets-scout camp vibe was reworked and restyled by the designers as varied as
Christopher Decarnin at Balmain, Nanette Lepore, and Stella McCartney, among others.

We've selected our favorites of the season's army greens, khakis, cargo pockets, and heavy metals and added a dose of gilded accents. Not intended for camouflage-- quite the opposite-- this utilitarian wear is all about getting noticed.

  • Would You Wear Pleated Pants?

5 Fashion Bloggers Making Waves on the Web!

We were in for a surprise from our most recent Facebook Fans poll: Whether or not pleated pants can be worn off the runway. Not only were results not what we were thinking (which was something more along the lines of "if you've got it, flaunt it") the fans answered back with a resounding, "If you're a model they can be."

Well if adding extra layers of fabric around a girl's hips isn't exactly what some style devotees had in mind then we're here to convince you that perhaps a few renditions are worthy of making it into your Spring closet.

It's a matter of finding just the right pair that suits your figure and styling them to further flatter your frame. Here are a few tips on what to look for when buying into the pleated pants trend.

    DIY Skin-Saving Recipes

    Outfit #1:

Try a pair of higher-waisted pleated pants-- the waistline lengthens legs so the pants won't overwhelm your figure.

  • Spring Ponytails - How to Pump Up the Volume

Angela Soto from Mizu New York illustrates her insider tricks.

7 Secrets to Getting Flawless Skin!

Warm weather prompts us to pull our hair up and off of our shoulders-- but a slicked back ponytail can get boring when worn every day. To learn how to add a little bit of volume to your pony, Angela Soto from Mizu New York illustrates her technique below.

    Step 1 (above):

Apply a soft cream or pomade with your fingers for a natural texture throughout your hair. Angela recommends using Bumble and Bumble Brilliantine and/or Bumble and Bumble Styling Wax.

    Step 2:

Starting at the front of your head and working towards the crown, gather the front section of hair so you have an inverted v-shape. If you have bangs, leave them out. Clip this section of hair aside.

    Step 3:

Leaving out the front v-section, swoop the rest of your hair into a high ponytail. To keep a soft, natural look to the hair, use your fingers or a comb to collect the hair.
