  • What's in a wedding date?

Cab driver conversations always seem to spark some pretty interesting topics. I recently rode with a cabbie in Indianapolis who revealed that he and his blushing bride were getting married on 10-10-10 at 10:10 p.m. He was also dressing as Elvis for the ceremony (he had lived in Vegas for years and had a slight obsession with The King). He divulged that he secretly hoped to one day get married in the Elvis Wedding Chapel in Vegas, but moved to Indianapolis to be with his grandson and is now marrying the grandmother of his grandson on the opposite side of the family. (I know, it took me a long time to wrap my head around that one too, but not to worry, it's perfectly legal.) It was a sweet little reminder that it is never too late fall in love, dress up, show up, and give love another go.

This got me thinking about the significance of auspicious wedding dates and what it all means. No doubt one of the most important wedding planning details is choosing the perfect date to print on

  • 'Sex and the Snuggie'

Guilty: I fell victim to "Snuggie Fever" last Christmas. The box of love caught my eye whilst browsing at the local Bed, Bath and Beyond and I just knew that my older brother had to have a leopard print Snuggie. Because who doesn't need a blanket with sleeves? (It was either that or another Chia pet, but I think I exhausted those with the Chia Head, Chia Guy, Chia Turtle, and Chia Hillary Clinton.) The Snuggie, I decided, was my new Chia.

And now, as if Snuggies weren't cool enough, a new item to add to your Christmas list: Snuggie Sutra.

The Snuggie Sutra, a newly published book about Snuggies with a sexy twist, is kind of like Kama Sutra, only with your favorite blanket. The illustrated guide highlights a number of erotic sexual positions all to be performed in the comfort of your own sleeved blanket.

Click on to see some of our favorite Snuggie Sutra positions with descriptions of each position from the book.

  • What's your best revenge story?

Katy Perry decided to get revenge by calling out her high school crush who never gave her the time of day in front of a huge crowd of adoring fans. The pop star made a special appearance at her alma mater, Dos Pueblos High School in Goleta, California for a homecoming event.

"It's like, don't break my heart, because I'm going to go and write a song about you," Perry said. "I'm so thankful that God gave me that gift." It just so happened that the main character of her unrequited love story, Shane Lopes, was at the event.

"Is that Shane Lopes? You were the most popular kid in my class, but you never wanted to date me, it was always Amanda Wayne. Oh yeah, you really chose right, honey. What's up now, playa?" said Perry.

TMZ reported that Lopes was surprised when Perry picked him out of the crowd. As it turns out, he married his high-school sweetheart and is "happy with how things turned out."

Here's my personal revenge story in short: He swept me off my feet, took me to

  • 5 quick tips for spending a meaningful day at home

Growing up in New England, we would always say "if you don't like the weather, wait five minutes." Because the weather changed so frequently, it often meant that many days were confined to, god forbid, the four walls of our own home. These days, living in sunny California, I wake up pretty much every day to the shining sun. Believe me, I am not complaining -- I love the weather here and am completely grateful that I can step outside all year round and go for a walk or a hike, but sometimes I have to remind myself of how great it can be to just stay indoors and take joy in the comforts of home.

I will never forget the hurricane when I was eight or nine that forced us to stay inside without electricity for days. The entire neighborhood got together at the one house with the gas stove and had the time of our lives. We lit candles, told stories, slept in sleeping bags in front of the fireplace, cooked really bad food, and just enjoyed one another's company. All of the modern

  • What really happens on the red carpet: Behind the scenes at the VMAs

Me on the white carpetMe on the white carpetWhen our Fashion and Beauty editor Joanna Douglas couldn't attend this year's MTV Video Music Awards, Shine's red carpet coverage (or in this case, um, white carpet), fell to me. It was my first time doing anything like this at all-essentially, my only qualification for the assignment was being located on the West Coast-but I thought it would be a fun, kind of glamorous experience and so I said yes. Turns out, it was nothing like what I'd expected.

I arrived at the event for the 12:30pm check-in, was assigned a number, and guided to the press "holding area" (kind of like a pen) where I met the other reporters I would be working with that day. The room was total chaos-official-type people were racing around with headsets, performers in red latex pants were practicing warm-up exercises, a cameraman proclaimed that he "was too hung-over to be doing this today." Various reporters worked with their cameramen to record introductions. One reporter in particular from Perez Hilton

  • Abstinence programs receive major government funds, but research shows…they don’t really work

Life & Style has reported that Joe Jonas, who's been dating Twilight star Ashley Greene since July, is no longer wearing his purity ring. Gasp!

OK, so not really breaking and you are probably thinking: "Who the hell cares?" However there's a bigger story here: Each year, more than $100 million in government funds is spent promoting teen abstinence programs like purity rings, even though research shows they don't really work.

Purity rings were first introduced in the '90s by Christian-affiliated sexual abstinence groups to symbolize a religious vow to practice abstinence until marriage.

"Under the Bush administration, organizations that promote abstinence and encourage teens to sign virginity pledges or wear purity rings have received federal grants. The Silver Ring Thing, a subsidiary of a Pennsylvania Evangelical Church, has received more than $1 million from the government to promote abstinence and to sell its rings in the United States and abroad," says David Bario

  • The Juror who loved me: Rodney King engaged to woman who helped award him millions

Radaronline.comRadaronline.comDoes this seem weird to anyone else? Rodney King, the man who was viciously beaten by Los Angeles police in 1991, is engaged to juror number five from his famous court case.

King, 44, recently proposed to Cynthia Kelley, who pushed to award King a $3.8 million payout in a civil case against the city of Los Angeles .

The duo reports that their romance blossomed as soon as the controversial civil trial ended, "Our first date was the next day after the trial when Rodney's lawyer and Rodney met me in a local pizzeria in Newport Beach ," Kelley told RadarOnline. At the time, King and Kelley were both married to other people, but have reportedly been involved off and on ever since.

Nineteen years later, the couple, now divorced from their previous marriages, is ready to walk down the aisle again.
