  • Salmon Burger with Avocado Lime Guacamole

Zov KaramardianZov KaramardianLately, I've been experimenting with a variety of new menu selections in response to the craze for high-protein foods. One of my most surprising discoveries is how well salmon works as a burger! Here, Asian flavors and fresh herbs add a bright piquancy to the salmon.

5 New Ways to Make Salmon

    For the avocado-lime guacamole:
3 ripe avocados, peeled, pitted, and cubed
    1/2 cup sour cream
    3 tablespoons chopped basil
    3 tablespoons finely chopped shallots
    2 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan
    2 tablespoons lemon juice
    2 tablespoons lime juice
    2 tablespoons minced garlic
1 serrano chile, seeded and minced
    1 teaspoon ground black pepper

  • America’s Best Chicken Parm Sandwiches

While it might seem like a piece of cake to just slap some chicken fingers, canned sauce, and pizza-grade shredded mozzarella onto an Italian roll, heat it up, and call it a day (and trust us, there are plenty of perfectly serviceable examples of those in pizzerias all along the Eastern Seaboard), a truly great chicken Parm sandwich requires a bit of finesse. While decent chicken Parm subs are available in just about every pizzeria on the East Coast, truly great versions are much harder to find west of the Mississippi and south of the Mason-Dixon Line, and that's the reason why our ranking of the nation's top 10 skews to the Northeast. It might be considered a regional specialty, but this humble gut-buster is ready for its moment in the sun. Here are America's top chicken Parm sandwiches.

Celebrate living a full and fulfilling gluten-free life with a trip to a gluten-free dining destination. However, traveling isn't always easy when you have a food allergy or dietary restriction. Calling up each hotel, restaurant, and food vendor to discuss options can seem like an incredibly daunting task. • McDonald's CEO Claims 'We Don't Sell Junk Food'

A 9-year-old asked why Thompson wasn't serving healthier food. Here's his responseLast week when an adorable 9-year-old spoke up to McDonald's CEO Don Thompson about healthy eating, the media world went aflutter about the precocious girl's questions. But of course, the response is even more interesting.

    America's Unhealthiest Fast-Food Items

"I don't think [it's] fair when big companies try to [talk]kids into eating foods that isn't good for them by using toys and cartoons characters," the girl said, according to a transcript.

Healthiest and Unhealthiest Fast-Food Kids Menus

"I made cooking videos with my mom that showcase that eating healthy can be fine and yummy... Mr. Thompson don't you want to kids to be healthy so they can live a happy life?" she later added.

    Birthplaces of American Fast Food

  • The Most Awesome Ice Cube Trays

The best way to jazz up your iced drinks, whether a mocktail or cocktail, is with a fun shaped ice cube. What we're loving are the quirky, cool, and often hilarious ice cube trays that keep us feeling young and fresh. More often than not, you'll find an ice cube tray to meet every personality. Food lover? Try a fish-bone ice cube. Music lover? Freeze an hip-hop-homage ice cube (dollar signs and all). Pick your poison, there's an ice cube for all. And while we're sure we'd love a Jaws-inspired shark fin looming in our vodka cranberries, these ice cubes are just as much for kids' delight as well. A little bit of ice can transform your drink from a dud to something fun, so toss out the whiskey rocks (after all, your Scotch needs a bit of water anyways) and try something new. --Marcy Franklin, The Daily Meal

  • Deep Fried Bacon Wrapped Fried Ice Cream Recipe

Arthur BovinoArthur BovinoGo to Google and search bacon. About 178,000,000 results, right? Now search sex. About 3,050,000,000 results (at least by last night's count). So there are some 17 times more results for sex than bacon. That's still a pretty good ratio considering the motivating factor of the human race. So it's no surprise bacon recipes do well, and no surprise bacon-wrapped recipes do well. That's one reason The Daily Meal's Cook editors assigned a week of Recipe SWAT Team to bacon-wrapped recipes (if only there could be a bacon-wrapped sex recipe, but this is a PG-rated site... shh!). When thinking about all the ridiculous, yet tasty and fun bacon-wrapped recipes we could create, one challenge came to mind amongst The Daily Meal's staff: Deep-Fried Bacon-Wrapped Fried Ice Cream. Just saying.

Dress Your Food in Bacon and Bacon Fat

  • Fish Oils May Aid Weight Loss

University of California San FranciscoUniversity of California San FranciscoIf you're often told you should be eating more fish, then please start taking that advice, because here's yet more science to back that up.

7 Reasons Why You Should Eat More Fish

When a person eats a lot of junk food, high in refined sugars and saturated fats, the brain exhibits changes as a result of such a diet. Those changes can result in an inhibition of natural body processes that cooperate to control a person's intake of food. Fish oils, including omega-3s, have long been suggested to play a role in offsetting such effects of an unhealthy diet, and a new review of 185 research papers has made some headway into pinpointing how this may work.

    Fish Oils Can Prevent Blindness

A team of researchers at the University of Liverpool's Institute of Ageing and Chronic Disease conducted a review of data that aimed to reveal whether sufficient evidence existed that fish oils play a significant role in stimulating areas of the brain that control a person's weight. According to the University

Whether on the gridiron, hardwood, diamond, or ice, athletes raise our expectations, and in crucial moments, dash our hopes or fulfill our dreams. Some of them cement fame and glory by following through on guarantees. Others fall, get backpage bullied, and live accepting that they never won a ring. Whatever their success in the record books, many gridiron heroes and ballpark messiahs have splashed their names on dining establishments that also serve as a shrine to their athletic glory. To determine this year's champs we investigated reader suggestions, evaluated local reviews, tallied popular rating sites, and scoured menus for more than 35 athlete-owned restaurants across the country to narrow the list to just the best. - Arthur Bovino, The Daily Meal

Green tea is often considered the "sacred" green, antioxidant-rich beverage of the health world, as well as the healthy alternative to coffee.
