    Ever reach a point when you want to clean your slate and just start over? Not only is it possible to begin again, sometimes it's absolutely necessary in order for you to move forward.

    For me struggle, chaos, disharmony, and clutter signal my need to let go. It doesn't' mean that I have to quit or give up; it simply means that my forcing solutions is never the answer. I have walked away from relationships in order to see if they still had value, jobs that proved too stressful, and places that no longer resonated with my spirit. Making changes has not been easy but allowing time and space between me and whatever is causing the problem always works miracles.

    When was the last time you complemented someone? Could be they did a great job on a project. Perhaps they did something as simple as take out the trash, wash the dishes, or feed your cat.

    How about telling someone they look great today! You like their outfit, they have eyes that sparkle or you noticed they dropped a few pounds. Whatever it is, take a moment to say something genuine to lift someone's spirits. It's amazing how great you'll both feel and you can be sure that your positive words will come back to you multiplied.

  • Ask For Help

    Dorothy, the scarecrow, tin man, and cowardly lion, all found the courage to ask for help before they ventured onto the yellow brick road in search of the Wizard of OZ. True, the wizard showed them that they already possessed what they were seeking, but they each needed to walk along that road together in order to find the one person who knew the answer.

    It used to be hard for me to ask for help, especially when I need it the most. I would rationalize, show indifference, procrastinate and then lose motivation before I realized that I had reached an impasse and was stuck. What may have appeared to be laziness, was really a mask for my underlying fears.

    The damn thing wouldn't start! It was my own fault, I had failed to turn off the headlights after that early morning fog and now my car battery was dead. I was really pissed when I called AAA for a jump start. It had been a long day, my husband was expecting me and I was anxious to get home. Now I was forced to do nothing but sit and wait. To make matters worse, my cell phone need charging and right after calling for help, it died too.

    Then I thought about it and realized this was actually a great wake up call for me. The past few weeks I had been continuously doing, rushing, managing a lot and taking very little time to "recharge my own battery." I wondered why I had to be stopped in my tracks to recognize that I was overloaded. My tendency is to keep pushing, allowing more and more stress, when what I need to do is take a break and relax.

    The best way to understand someone and to try and see the world through their eyes may be with our ears - by listening, really listening.

    Like most people I often jump in too soon, interrupt or think about my response before the other person is finished speaking. In the end, I miss out on creating a deeper and more intimate connection.

    When we interrupt, correct or criticize we don't' create a safe shelter for someone to open their heart to us. Maybe that's the reason many people connect easily to strangers, their hairdresser or minister, because sadly enough they are more apt to listen without judgment than our loved ones are.

    Listening is not only a way of showing respect; it's an act of loving and honoring someone. It's a way of connecting and bonding with them.

    Whenever my husband and I have a conflict it usually boils down to one thing, one or both of us don't feel appreciated! It's so easy to take people for granted especially those who are closest to us. But those are the people we really need to express gratitude for the most, because without them our lives would be very different.

    I make it a habit to tell my husband how much I love and appreciate him every day. I don't wait to express my feelings in a holiday card although I do that too.     I want to live my life moment to moment, relishing every bit of it, enjoying, savoring, and embracing time spent in solitude as much as time shared with others.

    When I am not living my life in the present moment, by thinking about the past or projecting into the future, I am missing out on the only reality that exists, the present.

    So many times during my day I consciously pull myself back to the moment by taking a few deep breathes. Feeling the earth beneath my feet, looking up at the passing clouds, I remind myself to be present to feel and to enjoy all of my experiences as fully as possible. Maybe that's why we call this moment the present; it's where all the gifts lie.

    Let today be your wake up call to remember, there is only the present moment and the time for living your life is now.

    One of the most useless wastes of energy is worry. Yet so many of us continue to think about and imagine scenarios that will never happen. We don't stop to realize that worry is simply a very bad habit and that like any other habit it can be broken and changed with awareness and focus. The truth is that stress and worry can actually make us physically ill and take years off our lives, so why not break the worry habit today.

    I used to be a chronic worrier until I became conscious of my thoughts and realized I was focusing my mind on negative outcomes rather than positive solutions. I was trying to control outcomes that were clearly out of my domain and I was building a bonfire that was fed by my fears and fantasies rather than faith.

    To help break my worry habit, I have a string of worry beads given to me by a Tibetan monk. They are very smooth
