  • How To Spot Thalassemia Symptoms

The thalassemia disease encompasses the defective and decreased production of the hemoglobin, the component of the red blood cells that carries the oxygen in the blood as it is distributed to the entire body.

It is also responsible in transporting carbon dioxide or waste gas to the lungs for it to be expelled. With thalassemia, the body lessens the production of healthy hemoglobin cells as well as produces flawed hemoglobin. The body, therefore, has reduced quantity of healthy red blood cells.

People who have the thalassemia trait can have either severe or mild anemia. Anemia is an illness of the body where the amount of red blood cells is lower than normal. This also means that with thalassemia trait the red blood cells could be smaller than the normal size and the hemoglobin level in the blood is lower.

  • Man Flies With a Jet Pack

Swiss daredevil Yves Rossy strapped a jet-propelled Kevlar wing onto his back, jumped from a helicopter 8,000 feet above the Grand Canyon, and proceeded to fly for eight minutes using a steering mechanism controlled solely by the motions of his body. Thereafter, he parachuted safely to the Canyon floor.

Rossy's flight was originally scheduled for Friday, but was delayed due to the FAA approval process: While he received approval "moments" before the flight was scheduled to take place, this gave him insufficient time to practice, which is generally something one wants to do before strapping four jet engines onto their back and flying over the Grand Canyon.

Rossy: "My first flight in the US is sure to be one of the most memorable experiences in my life, not only for the sheer beauty of the Grand Canyon but the honour to fly in sacred Native American lands."

  • Happy Mother's Day Card

This time, I was good. I made Mother's Day cards TWO days before. That is impressive for me, and I'm proud of it! It's probably because SVGCuts has released this super pretty Kate's Silhouette SVG Collection, and I wanted to use them badly and because it was so girly, Mother's Day cards were the obvious ones to do....

The other day when I made a girl card out of digital paper, I loved the look of it. So, this time, I decided to do along the similar lines, with the sewing, inking, twine and flowers. I think that it might be one of my new styles - so, I hope that you like it! LOL!

I made two - one for my mom, and one for my mom-in-law... but I haven't decided which to give to whom... Hmmmm....I like them so much, I may just give to myself! Okay, that defeats my purpose of thinking ahead this time.

  • Gold Price in India

Even as buying activity remained high on the auspicious day of 'Akshaya Tritiya', both the precious metals tumbled today on weak global cues. Silver nose-dived by Rs 6,000 to Rs 53,200 per kg and gold plummeted by Rs 225 to Rs 22,120 per 10 grams.

Retail customers resorted to active gold buying to mark the day of Akshaya Triitya, considered to be an auspicious occasion in Hindu mythology to make token purchases.

Traders said the demand among retailers for the festival had hardly any impact of the sliding precious metals prices despite the ongoing weakening trend in domestic as well as overseas markets.
