  • Planning a Wedding with Divorced Parents? Read This

Let's face it: If you're a child of divorce, you've probably experienced a lot of changes in your family life. Perhaps it has never even fully recovered to a normal state (unless that state is, of course, chaos). I know the feeling. My parents "started" divorcing while I was in high school and they didn't finish until I was halfway through college. Times like these are incredibly emotional and life-changing for everyone involved. Being the child of divorced parents can also be extremely tricky when it comes time for your big day.

After my now-husband Graham proposed and we started planning our wedding, I suddenly had a lot of questions. Is it bad form to have just my mom walk me down the aisle? (I didn't have a good relationship with my father at the time.) How could I involve my dad without stirring up family drama? What if both parents walked me down the aisle? Is that even possible to ask from two people who once had a restraining order against each other? What if my dad's wife

  • 5 of the Most Awkward Wedding Questions to Ask

In wedding planning, as in life, there are uncomfortable topics you have to cover, so knowing the right way to ask (instead of argue) for things gives you a way to resolve any possible ripples before they become tidal waves. When the asking is out of the way, there's more time for enjoying, celebrating and making memories. Isn't that what your big day is supposed to about? Here, some ideas.

    1. How to ask your guests to travel for a destination wedding:
Asking your friends to get on board with this can be difficult. Between time off from work (and the cost of travel and lodgings), a lot of friends and family might find it difficult and expensive to attend. It's ideal to give your potential guests as much notice as possible. Read our destination wedding countdown calendar ►

You could start by saying, "We would love to have you help us celebrate and I know this will require extra time and money on your part. Do you think you could make a vacation around the wedding? I'm

  • This Woman Has Worn a Wedding Dress Every Day for 10 Years

    Xiang Junfeng
Like many brides, Xiang Junfeng describes her wedding day as the happiest day of her life. "I never wanted it to end," she told the Daily Mail. And so it didn't - at least when it comes to her wardrobe. "I decided I wanted to not only keep wearing my dress, but actually bought four other wedding dresses as well."

Junfeng's wedding day was especially meaningful because it wasn't just a celebration of love - it was a celebration of her freedom. Originally from Jimo, China, she was kidnapped at the age of 18, sold as a slave, and forced to marry an elderly man in Linyi. It took 15 years until she could escape to Liujiazhuang village, where she was helped by a local woman. When she later met the woman's brother, the two immediately hit it off. "I had only ever known a violent and abusive man, and I avoided men until I met my new partner, who brought me truly out of my shell and treated me so differently…I couldn't believe it

Overwhelmed with the logistics of planning your big day? Join the club! We asked top wedding professionals and real brides around the country to divulge their stress-less secrets.

    2. Get married in an (almost free) space. Some public sites like parks or gardens allow you to tie the knot there in exchange for a small donation. Shannon Mcnay, a personal finance writer who recently planned her NYC wedding for less than $5,000, opted to wed at a community garden in the East Village. She reveals that "My husband and I are from different religions, so we chose to get married in a neutral place. It was beautiful and it provided exactly the setting
