Because it's all too easy for even the best-intentioned closet cleaning to turn into an afternoon of taking selfies in your old prom dress-while surrounded by haphazard ankle-deep piles of clothes, of course-we've provided some helpful guidelines to keep you on track. Read on for seven simple steps for organizing your closet in just one day.

    1. First, you need to get organized. Have grocery totes on hand for separating items into these categories: 1. Things you are keeping but need to get tailored. 2. Designer or vintage pieces you no longer want, but could possibly resell. 3. Goods you plan on donating. Be sure to mark each bag clearly, and keep all three in a clean space to avoid cross-contamination with laundry and clutter. Also, have a notebook and pen on hand to document any holes in your wardrobe; that will help focus your shopping later on and make for an easier closet refresh down the road. • Hayden Panettiere Bought Her Golden Globes Dress (And Why That's so Scandalous!)

    by Maura Brannigan

George Pimentel/WireImageHayden Panettiere has been a red carpet staple since her child actress days (Raising Helen, anyone?), opting for ladylike designs from the likes of Roberto Cavalli and Marchesa for her recent awards show appearances. But never before had she worn Tom Ford-until last night, that is. "It's the first time I've ever worn him, because I've been begging ever since," Hayden described to Giuliana Rancic during E!'s Golden Globes red carpet show. "I feel sexy in it, I feel comfortable in it, and I'm in Tom Ford. I would wear a plastic bag if it was designed by him."

Who knew the 24-year-old star had such an affinity for the storied American designer-one who, customarily, dresses only one woman per awards show? Last night, that woman was Naomi Watts, and Naomi Watts only, in a silver gown complete with strategic side cut-outs. Meaning? "Tom Ford confirms to me he ONLY dressed #NaomiWatts tonight. Today marks the beautiful brunette royal's 32nd birthday-and if it's even possible, our love for the perpetually well-dressed and graceful Duchess of Cambridge has only grown since she walked down the aisle in that custom Alexander McQueen. Best-dressed mom ever? We think so!

Throughout her first few years as a royal, Kate's kept her style game remarkably strong, turning up in all manner of swoonworthy looks by both her favorite British designers and high street labels. • Jenna Lyons Proves that Yes, You CAN Wear a Sweatshirt to a Fancy Party

    by Elana Fishman

I have a certain dark grey sweatshirt from Wildfox Couture that is probably the most conversation-starting piece of clothing I own. There's nothing especially unusual about it-save for the insanely, impossibly soft fleece lining, I guess-but across the front of it reads the word "YES" in big, bold capital letters. It's a bit unbelievable how many people stop me on the street when I'm decked out in my statement sweater-and thankfully, not all of them are creepy old men. In fact, everyone from my favorite Condé Nast cafeteria cashier to my apartment's superintendent has either giggled at or asked about the piece.

And that's precisely why it's the perfect sort of thing to wear to a social event-it takes the guesswork right out of breaking the ice. At Monday's night's season-three premiere of HBO's Girls, J.Crew's president and resident style icon Jenna Lyons walked the red carpet in a pair of shiny trousers, strappy silver stilettos, sparkling layered necklaces-and a

  • Six Brands Who Cut Out the Middle Man (And Changed the Way We Shop in the Process!)

    by Alison Syrett Cleary

Say you're browsing the racks at a little boutique and spot something cute. Interest piqued, you grab it, check the sales tag and gasp in surprise. A good one or two more digits than you expected to see, the number seems unreasonably high. Why on earth it so much? Was this thing stitched with baby unicorn hair? Dipped in Holy Grail water? Gold-lined?

Unfortunately, the real reason behind your sticker shock is much less exciting: production costs. In order to turn a profit, brands need to mark pieces high enough to cover overhead fees such as rent, shipping and outsourced labor. And things get even more expensive when a label sells through another store-that just means extra paychecks to cover. The more middlemen involved, the more you're required to shell out.

But what would happen if companies could cut back on some of those extra parties? A growing trend of direct-to-consumer sites in the digital shopping space proves it slashes the price of luxury goods

  • Surprise! Miley Cyrus is the Face of Marc Jacobs' Spring 2014 Campaign

It's no secret that Miley Cyrus and Marc Jacobs have a longstanding relationship: Miley wore a fishnet gown by the designer to last year's Met Ball, posed nude for a charitable tee for Marc's brand and even presented the design icon with an award at the Fashion Group International's Night of Stars this past October (in a sequined slip dress from MJ's label, no less). It's also a well-known fact that Marc likes casting his celebrity pals in his advertising campaigns-Victoria Beckham, Sofia Coppola and Dakota Fanning have all posed for him in the past.

So when you think about it, Miley actually makes a whole lot of sense as the face of Marc's Spring 2014 campaign. Our friends at Nylon just broke the story and shared the above image from a February fashion magazine, which features the "Wrecking Ball" singer lounging on a post-apocalyptic beach that matches the set of

  • PHOTOS: Your First Look at Sarah Jessica Parker's Shoe Line, Pricing Included!

    by Elana Fishman

A lot of celebrities have their own clothing lines-but when it comes to stars tapped to launch shoe lines, we can't think of anyone better than Sarah Jessica Parker for the job. On February 28, her first footwear collection under the SJP label will hit Nordstrom.com-and Glamour got a first look at the goods for its February issue.

Inspired by-who else?-Carrie Bradshaw, SJP's beloved Sex and the City character, the collection includes Carine Roitfeld-approved lace-up booties, whipstitched flats, classic pumps and strappy stilettos. There's a flower-accented heeled sandal that nods to her SATC alter ego's infamous floral pins, as well as a pointy-toed T-strap appropriately called "The Carrie." With most styles priced around the $300-$400 mark, these shoes certainly aren't cheap-but we suspect there are more than a few Bradshaw diehards that'll be more than willing to pony up that cash come next month. And hey, most of the pairs will set you back less than those $485
