  • Rihanna's Costume Designer Launches His Own Line

    by Alison Syrett Cleary

While you might be familiar with Rihanna's strapless black corset and skirt from the 2012 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, or that controversial jeweled bikini she wore to Carnival in Barbados earlier this summer, you might not know that the same man, Adam Selman, created both looks. As the singer's costume designer for the last two years-and the head designer of her River Island collaboration-he's played a crucial role in developing her slinky sportswear style. But even if this is the first time you're heard of Adam, it surely will not be the last. The designer is launching his own label at New York Fashion Week this year, and Riri's fans are going to love it.

Two looks from the forthcoming collection were just released on WWD this morning. Each one definitely seems like something Rihanna would wear, although Adam didn't cite her as a muse. Rather, he said that he looked to an 1981 HBO special on supermodels called Beautiful

  • Lady Gaga's Next Song 'Is a Love Letter to Donatella'

    by Alison Syrett Cleary

Although the only song Lady Gaga's publicly released from her forthcoming ARTPOP album is "Applause," she's given Donatella Versace a sneak peek of another one called 'Donatella." Which only seems fair, we suppose, since the track in question was both named after and inspired by the infamous designer. As Just Jared exclusively reported last Friday, after an interview with Mother Monster, "Donatella" is the singer's "love letter to Donatella," and all about "being a fearless female and not caring what people say about you-being proud of who you are and walking the walk no matter what."

The popstar also said that, "Donatella, maybe she's a bitch, maybe she's too skinny, maybe she's too rich, maybe she's too out there. Or, maybe she's brilliant, maybe she's intelligent, maybe she's strong, maybe she's everything, maybe she's Donatella." Could those be a sneak peek of the lyrics? One never

  • Fall Coats to Pick Up Now!

    by Natalie Matthews

Usually cozying up with a coffee and the fun sections of the newspaper (style, weddings, gadgets, arts) is a relaxing activity, but last weekend, it gave me some anxiety. It was the Wall Street Journal's fault, particularly this piece, which made me feel like I've missed my opportunity to nail the perfect fall coat even though it's only August.

The points were clear and hard-hitting: with the way that brands' production and delivery schedules work, most fall coats are already in stores now, so there's only going to be less stock to pick from come November or December. And since coats are big-ticket items for stores to buy, they're not as willing to put them on sale in the middle of their peak season as they are, say, bathing suits in July.

So instead, all you're left with when you decide you need a new coat in the finger-nipping days of January is an anemic selection of randomly sized coats. Full-priced, too. It's a strong case for coat shopping now, even

  • Beautiful Beach Hair Secrets from Five Roxy Surfers

    by Alison Syrett Cleary

The type of effortless, beachy waves that come from a bottle of sea salt spray look nothing like hair after an actual day at the beach. For one, the effect of briny ocean water is often more tangled than tousled; even short swims mean you'll be spending some quality time with a deep conditioning treatment and fine-toothed comb. Combine that with the drying effect of UV rays and breakage caused by microscopic sand bits, and you've got some serious harm to repair. Really, it's almost reason enough to stick with public pools all season. Or at least to stay under your umbrella while wearing an extra-large hat.

But neither damaged hair, chlorine water nor floppy headgear is an option for the ladies on Roxy's pro surfer team, whose careers require both intense training in the ocean and constant photocalls. So how do they manage daily wave sessons without emergency visits to the salon every night? Click through the slideshow above to find out for yourself! (And

  • Price Adjustments: The All-In Guide to Getting Your Money Back from These Stores

    by Natalie Matthews

Some of you will probably roll your eyes at my amateur-ness, but I have something to admit: I didn't know what a price adjustment was until last year. Before that, I thought the only thing to do when you saw that red satchel or sequin pencil skirt you bought three days ago marked down 40 percent was just to swallow your bad timing and move on. But it's not.

So for those of you who don't know-I feel like I'm passing The Wire or Harry Potter to someone uninitiated-you can often get a price adjustment, where a store will refund the difference between what you paid and the new sale price, if you bought the thing super-recently. It makes so much sense, but I just didn't realize companies would do that because maybe I'm a cynic and didn't think the world played that fair.

The policies vary, with some companies opting out entirely, but it's worth noting which ones do it and how. That way you'll know how long afterwards to watch the pricing of something you just

  • Five Fall Beauty Myths—Busted!

    by Sarah Ferguson

This time last year I was getting ready to swap my fun, punchy-hued lip and eye colors for their darker and moody counterparts. My hair was finally decreasing in volume and my faded summer glow meant blush and bronzer were back in rotation.

But this year is a totally different game. Click through above to see how you can keep your summer beauty look going through fall.

  • Clear Skin Secrets from Five of SoulCycle's Finest

    by Alison Syrett Cleary

Mid-SoulCycle session last week, my focus wandered from making the most of our third round of grueling handle bar push-ups to the concealer, cream blush and matte power I was still wearing from work. Normally, I try to minimize clogged pores by washing everything off before hitting the studio, but coming from a late meeting that afternoon, I was forced to go straight from a frantic no-shame change in the co-ed locker area to my bike. As I mentally began to formalize a post-class damage control plan (quickly rinse off with the complimentary Clean & Clear, and then hit up a nearby Sephora for potent anti-acne samples), my gaze settled on our instructor's face. Even more sweaty than mine, it was completely luminous, blemish-free and Neutrogena-commercial-worthy. Then it struck me: I've never seen a single professional SoulCycler with acne spots, like...ever. And some of them teach several hours worth of classes a day!

Because my complexion is the kind that

    by Elana Fishman

Back in February, Swedish high street brand H&M presented its Fall 2013 collection on the Paris runway for the first time ever. Held at the Musée Rodin, the event wound up being one of fashion month's most memorable, drawing the likes of Chloë Moretz, Ashley Olsen and Léa Seydoux to the front row. And now, starting today, the collection's available to shop online at H&M's new U.S. e-commerce site-a full two weeks before it becomes available in stores, no less.

Among the Paris Show Collection's highlights? A stunning crimson chiffon dress you might've spotted on Blake Lively in our September cover story, the most buttery-looking pair of suede over-the-knee boots and a black embroidered skirt that made my fit-and-flare-loving heart skip a beat. We expect that the outerwear-think military-style, structed jackets and coats-will sell out swiftly, too. Click through above to shop our 10 favorite finds from the line, then head to HM.com to browse the Paris Show
