  • The History of Baby Showers

Betting on the baby's weight, weird baby shower games, favors shaped like diapers. From a rocker glider ottoman set for the nursery to a luxury spa treatment for the mom-to-be, a baby shower is the most common way for family and friends to pamper expecting parents. But did you even wonder how baby showers came to be? This guide will take you on a journey through one of society's most common celebrations:

    When I Was A Girl...

Humans have celebrated birth as a rite of passage for both mother and child as far back as the ancient civilizations of Egypt and Greece. While it's true that new mothers were sometimes confined to the home after birth because it was considered an "impure" process, ancient peoples honored new life. For example, the Greeks shouted to signal peace after labor was over. It was also common to visit temples or hold festivals to celebrate the baby's arrival. Ten days after birth, friends and family treated the new mom with special meal. Instead of showering mom with

  • Easy Steps to Fighting the Aging Process

You may recall I wrote a post on aging gracefully. I pointed out the simple fact, that no matter how rich, how poor, how thin, how happy, how unhappy you are, there is one thing in this world you cannot fight, and just happen to be battling at the EXACT same rate as the next person… AGING. Madonna is over 50. Yes, Even Madonna turned 50! Enough said. But in that Blog post, I talked about my desire to age without any help from Dr. 90210. I wrote about how to age "gracefully." But, today, we're taking it one step further. Today, we're talking how to put that aging process on slow-mo. And I'm not on the fence here. I just turned 35 and because I don't intend on going the plastic route, I'm gonna fight the crap out of this aging process.

    I messed up!

Now, this morning didn't quite help the whole aging thing. In fact, this morning just helped speed up the process instead of slow it down. I was all ready for the gym and on my way to carpool, when I got a frantic call from my husband to

  • Sleep with Your Pet? It Might be a Bad Idea

Do you sleep with your pet? Well, you're not alone. According to a recent survey of pet owners by the American Pet Products Association, nearly half of all dogs sleep in their owner's beds. Additionally, 62% of cats also sleep with their owners. What could be better than curling up next to your furry little friend and being gently awakened in the morning by a little nuzzle? For many pet owners, few things in life can top this feeling. But, is sleeping with your pet a good idea or not?

    Allergies, Schmalergies

It is no big surprise that people who suffer from allergies or asthma should not sleep with their pets, or have them anywhere in their bedroom for that matter. However, upon discovering that their pets are causing allergic reactions, many pet lovers will still refuse to kick their pet out of their bed. The best solution in this case is allergy shots, which would gradually help build up a tolerance for pet dander left in the bed.

Though surgery and skin care products can help you send wrinkles packing, several easy ways to fight wrinkles are possible that might surprise you...

It's not just for bodies anymore. Poses target specific problem areas. • You Are NOT Your Child's Friend!

The other day my son had a sore on his lip. He has had these sores on and off throughout his life. He knows that we have medicine that will stop the spread of the virus, but he also knows that the medicine hurts. When I saw the sore, I told him that I was going to put the medicine on it. He screamed and pulled away. Eventually, after trying to reason with him, I told him that as much as I did not want to, his father and I would need to force him to put the medicine on because a) it would save him long-term pain, and b) it would protect others from the spread of the virus.
