Journalist would love to have that one story that puts them in the forefront of their craft. Without giving too much insight into the novel The Genesis Files, Mr. Lloyd Palmer's boss truly gives him a hard time even after solving a crime while on the beat with his coworker Charles. Palmer's hunch leads him to the truth but as many people with stories in the south, a handful will believe you, a boss will deny you, and the rest will ignore the obvious. Personally for myself living in the South, I am all too familiar with the hardships that Lloyd Palmer faces when trying to do the best job that he can without any recognition from his boss. With our current event of the election, many of those prejudices still show their head. Author Gwen Richardson has no fear in touching on a subject that can bring forth conversations outside of her novel The Genesis Files, shining a light on how we can change our mindset and our lives; the additional hidden glass ceiling within this wonderful United

  • 512 Music at it Again

With the release of his new video "Hold Me Down" Mrage512 is keeping hiphop music in existence with the mellow sound and heavy guitar drop in the beat. Work has truly been put into this new track that released early than expected. I guess even he couldn't hold it down!

Just as his line states, 'The satisfaction mixed with exhaustion. I'm more into sustaining, not really into flossin..' Mirage512's hard work is definitely paying off. Austin Hiphop is still maintaining and I look forward to what new music all the artist have to offer in the coming year. - Shani Fenderson, Contributor

A winery, in which I frequent often along the Texas Wine trail, because it is very close to home, is Kiepersol Winery & Estates. Every year in the month of October, they have a festival; Kiepersol Estates Harvest Festival and Grape Stomp. With a 60 plus acre vineyard, Kiepersol is the largest winery in the state of Texas. The de Wet family is very passionate about what they do and has hired a team of youthful wine lovers, creating a family environment. Any given day when you visit the estate, you feel a sense of family with the knowledgeable staff about their product and wine making.

What About Kabob & His Gyros Located off WSW Loop 323 in Tyler, Texas. What About Kabob & His Gyros Located off WSW Loop 323 in Tyler, Texas.

Many say home is where the heart is and I believe that to be true. Even though I have planted my roots here in Texas, I always have a fondness for travel. My home is not only located in the Piney Woods, but also across the globe. People have the ability to make you feel at home wherever you are. One such place for my first article in the series is What About Kabob & His Gyros.

Who would have thought this upbeat find would be located off of Loop 323 in a strip mall located in Tyler, Texas? I have had my fair share of Gyros and crave a good bite or two when I make it to San Diego but to find this jewel in East Texas was truly a blessing. When you first walk in, the interior screams this is the trendy place to be. From the vibrant blue and yellow walls to the checkered floor and upbeat music, What About Kabob & His Gyros is the place to be any night of the week. The service is very friendly and if you order in, they serve you pita chips and humus. I know, pita chips and humus,

  • My Proclamation for Your Representation: Who Represents Your Product (You)?

    Frustrated Business Man.

Some folks tend to believe that business is a fast way to make money. Boy, are they wrong. It takes more than a month, a few close friends and an idea. Everyone has an idea, but it's how you implement the idea that makes all the difference in the world. Family will tend to back you, along with close friends, but they can only do so much. The idea that owning a business only takes a month for you to get rich, is totally not true. Over a short period of time, I have witnessed people and their businesses through the eyes of a consumer as well as a business consultant. The common denominator is that they have no clue about customer service or what their product is or even how to market.

Here are a few examples that I will first give in bettering your business, be it as an author, a network marketer, or whatever line of business you are in as an entrepreneur; proclamations about your representation do's and don'ts .

Always remain calm even when the customer is upset. Always remain calm even when the customer is upset. 1.) Customer Service- No matter what line of work you are in, you

In the previous article, we got to see a bit more behind the Man of M.O.D.E. Andre Thornton not only designs clothes for women, but also for men. Recognizing that he couldn't find clothes that suited his taste, but also fit him well for a man of his size. Before we go into detail about other lines that Mr. Thornton might have in the future, we left off with him speaking about the struggles within the fashion industry.

Has it been a struggle thus far?

YES it has. Fashion is, in my opinion, by far the most secretive and private industry next to the hair industry to break into. I actually became so frustrated at a point not knowing what to do that I actually paid for a seminar in NYC through a company called Global Purchasing just to get some insight on what to do next. I had already done the obvious, trademark, registered with the state to get a tax I.D. website, social network, even having a few articles of clothing professionally done (samples) and after that I was stuck.

  • The Man Behind the M.O.D.E, Andre Thornton of Street M.O.D.E. 22 Clothing (Part One)

Many of you may know that one of my many ventures is that I own an online boutique. While on search for vendors, I happened to come across a clothing line that caught my attention. That clothing line was Street M.O.D.E. 22. The hint of urban street, along with a flair of upscale class, peaked my interest and I needed to know more about the line. However, something else happened. When you think of fashion and understand how hard the industry can be for new lines, you begin to wonder about the minds behind those designs and what gives them that drive to remain persistent. It so happened that I wasn't at full capacity at the moment on my Facebook's friendly 5000 limit and I had the opportunity to send out a friend request with the owner, Andre Thornton. I'm sure he wasn't aware that I was researching and admiring his line from afar. It fascinates me to see people who are creative and how they come up with concepts and turn them into a work of art. Luckily for me, I posted something

Contracts should always be an exchange for any transaction in the literary industry. Contracts should always be an exchange for any transaction in the literary industry.

During the course of the past few weeks with events going on for authors, we have seen many people's true colors come forth. I've always been the type of person to give someone the benefit of the doubt however, in business it is no longer an idea of "your word is bond." Many new authors have yet to learn the concepts of being an entrepreneur. They jump into an idea of thinking their novel will be, or is, the "next best thing." In the site of your family's eyes and close friends, this may be true. But there is a large group of authors out here that see their work as also being the next big thing. With the event that recently happened in Atlanta, we found a slew of authors blasting out the event planner and how it was a flop. Without going into details of the event that did not happen, I began thinking about where everyone from each side went wrong. I sought the advice of a Facebook friend, fellow author, and event planner for the National Black Book Expo that happens annually in
