    Girls
star Allison Williams, who plays Marnie, the pretty girl nobody likes, is engaged to Ricky Van Veen. No, Ricky Van Veen is not a character in a Judy Blume book, he's an actual human man; in fact he's a very wealthy human man. Van Veen is one of the co-founders of CollegeHumor, the website that makes prank videos. (I'm told there are other, non-prank videos, but I'll believe it when I see it.) So that's basically a lot of money marrying a lot of money. Nothin' wrong with that!

Think of how nice their apartment will be. Or house! Could be a house. Maybe once they're married, Ricky Van Veen and Allison Williams will take to the country, or the suburbs. Maybe they'll buy a house in Rye or Ossining or Cos Cob and live a very sort of traditional life up there. More likely, though, is that they'll move to Brooklyn Heights and do that whole thing. Again, nothing wrong with that.

Are they gone? Good. It's just book readers and spoiler-holics now. George RR Martin has released a paragraph from The Winds Of Winter, the much (much, very, very) anticipated 6th installment of A Song of Ice and Fire. Are you ready? Here it is:

Somewhere off in the far distance, a dying man was screaming for his mother. "To horse!" a man was yelling in Ghiscari, in the next camp to the north of the Second Sons. "To horse! To horse!" High and shrill, his voice carried a long way in the morning air, far beyond his own encampment. Tyrion knew just enough Ghiscari to understand

  • Prince Harry’s Transition into Serious, Responsible Adult Continues

    Josh Duboff

Prince HarryPrince HarryPrince Harry has come a long way from his days of Vegas-related and assorted other scandals. Now 29 years old, out of the military life, and thought to be in a quite serious relationship, Harry seems to be entering the "adult phase" of his life. And in what the Daily Beast deems "evidence" that he is en route to transforming into a "serious man," Harry will be representing the Queen at a service in London next week-held on Monday at Clarence House-to honor Nelson Mandela. Desmond Tutu will be speaking at the service, which will be broadcast live on the BBC. As we know, the Queen is a pretty by-the-books, traditional woman, so a decision to let someone represent her at an event of this kind would seem to indicate a strong faith in her grandson.

  • Sandra Bullock Will Pocket at Least $70 Million for 'Gravity'

    Josh Duboff

Sandra BullockSandra BullockThe many actresses at one point rumored for the lead in Gravity-Angelina Jolie, Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson, Blake Lively, and Marion Cotillard among them-are no doubt going to be asking for an extra glass of white wine at lunch today.

The Hollywood Reporter notes, in a report out today, that Sandra Bullock will, after the dust has settled, take home at least $70 million for her work on Gravity, representing a career high sum. Bullock made $20 million right off the bat for signing on to the film. (Considering what we know about the arduous filming process-and factoring in our ardent Bullock adoration-that seems totally reasonable to us!) She also received 15 percent of "first-dollar gross"; in other words, after her advance was paid, she was given 15 percent of what the studio made from box-office receipts.

  • Pippa Middleton: My Bridesmaid’s Dress May Have Fit “A Little Too Well”

    Josh Duboff

Pippa MiddletonPippa MiddletonPippa Middleton was essentially unknown to the public before the royal wedding, when she sashayed up a staircase in an Alexander McQueen bridesmaid dress and, in an instant, managed to nearly upstage the main event. Facebook pages were created in honor of Pippa's assets, odes were written dedicated to her form (we can only assume), and she immediately became a celebrity and tabloid staple. While she hasn't spoken about the post-wedding hubbub previously, she decided to address the reaction last night during her first public speech, at a dinner held by the Women in Advertising and Communications.

Per the Daily Mirror, Pippa joked that her royal wedding gown may have "fitted a little too well." She quipped, "As I have found out, recognition has its upside, its downside and-you may say-its backside." Not bad, Pippa! Charming and elegant, with a dash of self-deprecation. She also told the 400 assembled

  • Ryan Gosling Wannabes Are Making Beard Transplants a Thing

Ryan Gosling, beard masterRyan Gosling, beard masterBeards are in. Whereas not a hair could be found on the faces of the majority of men of Sex and the City, the guys of Girls are almost always sporting some level of facial shrubbery. And most of our unanimously accepted heartthrobs these days (Clooney, Hamm, Gyllenhaal, etc.) exhibit a steady, healthy level of hirsuteness. Now, the men of New York are taking out their wallets to keep up.

DNAInfo reports that plastic surgeons are seeing increased interest in "facial hair transplants," which consist of the doctors "filling in a few gaps or doing a complete beard construction." Patients are shelling out up to $7,000 for the procedure, with one New York City doctor assessing: "Whether you are talking about the Brooklyn hipster or the advertising executive, the look is definitely to have a bit of facial hair." A different doctor notes that "hip . . . fashionable" twenty- or thirty-something young

    Sarah Jessica ParkerSarah Jessica Parker

One might think that Sarah Jessica Parker's love affair with shoes started with her infamous Sex and the City character, Carrie Bradshaw, but not so explains Parker at the Tuesday preview of her new SJP collection with George Malkemus and Nordstrom. "George and I had met long before I played Carrie Bradshaw," she says. "George came out to Los Angeles to a store called Madeleine Gallay that was on Sunset Plaza, in 1985. I didn't have two freaking nickels to rub together, but I came to this trunk show, and I ordered six pair of shoes. I must have done it, literally, on a layaway or on an American Express, it's the same card I have today. George and Manolo [Blahnik] had swatches and styles, and we put together six pairs of shoes."

That shared enthusiasm is what brought Parker and Malkemus together again on their 30-piece line of single-sole heels, espadrilles, flats, and thongs and handbags and trenches, which hits Nordstrom stores on February 28. Here, VF Daily

  • Kanye West Wants to Make "Kid-Friendy Songs"

Kanye West and Seth MeyersKanye West and Seth MeyersFor his second show since kicking off his Late Night tenure, Seth Meyers scored the ever-quotable Kanye West. The two sat down for a chat, before West performed a medley of his hits later in the show. Compared with his demeanor in certain other late-night settings, West seemed downright jolly last night. At one point, Meyers discussed West's sense of humor, and he played a clip of a sketch West had pitched for Saturday Night Live (which they filmed) in which he interrupts a whole bunch of acceptance speeches, including an eight-year-old girl who wins a pumpkin competition. Bizarrely, this was filmed two years before West would interrupt Taylor Swift at the Video Music Awards in 2009, indicating that in addition to his other talents, West is apparently some kind of Nostradamus, which actually doesn't seem all that surprising.

  • Judy Garland’s Children to Appear at Oscars Together for "Wizard of Oz" Tribute

    Julie Miller

Judy Garland with her childrenAside from knowing this Sunday's line-up of Oscar presenters-Jennifer Lawrence, Bill Murray, and Angelina Jolie among them!-we don't know much about this weekend's Ellen DeGeneres-hosted Academy Awards. But today, one detail about the secrecy-shrouded awards show has spilled forth, about a special segment commemorating the 75th anniversary of the iconic Judy Garland film, The Wizard of Oz.

The Hollywood Reporter has learned through multiple sources that Garland's three children, Liza Minnelli, Lorna Luft, and Joey Luft, will reunite for a special tribute to their mother's film. However it is unclear what the homage will entail, as the Reporter notes that the tribute's specifics "have not yet been locked down."

Last week, we saw kid actors reenact scenes from this year's best-picture nominees. And today, we present an even more adorable children's homage to this Sunday's Oscar candidates-two Chicago-based baby sisters and budding film buffs, Sophia Storino, 3, and Sadie Storino, 2, recreating stills from American Hustle, The Wolf of Wall Street, and the rest of this year's top theatrical crop. The Oscar homage photo shoot is a family tradition overseen by Sophia and Sadie's mother, Maggie Storino-sister of Vanity Fair contributor Marnie Hanel-for her blog, Tumblr's Don't Call Me Oscar.

This year, Maggie tells us, the shoot helped the family stave off Polar Vortex insanity. Maggie volunteers that "bribery was definitely involved" in the process, which averaged one to two photos a weekend. Maggie paid her child models in Disney's princess Palace Pets, noting that, "surprisingly, the crazier the photo the less bribery was involved-Sophia loved wearing curlers and still asks to wear
