  • 6 Things that Inspired Latino Project Runway Finalist Emilio Sosa

    By Erasmo Guerra

Maria K. GarciaIn 2010, as a finalist on Project Runway Season 7, Emilio Sosa (esosainc.com) was known for his bold use of color. With his upcoming spring 2013 collection, the Dominican-born designer explores his roots. Though he's lived in the Bronx ("the Boogie Down" as he calls it) since he was a six-year-old Sosa says he was inspired by the Santo Domingo of the 30's and 40's, back when it was a play land for the jet-set and international playboys like Rubirosa. CFL spoke to him about his life and work.

    Immigration Inspiration

My love for the color blue comes from Pan Am blue because that was the airline we flew when we moved from Santo Domingo. It was the first time I remembered a color. The seats were blue. The walls were blue. I just remember that color everywhere on the plane.

Face it: Dinner and a movie is sooo overdone…and, in case you didn't already know it, men aren't exactly loving the whole chick flick and candlelight dinner thing. We're not saying you have to sit through a 12-inning baseball game or chug down cervezas with his amigos. We say the best way to up the fun and lower the pressure for both of you is to try guy-approved-and either free or inexpensive-dates you can both enjoy. Check these out.

  • 10 Ways to Get Over a Breakup Now

    Cosmopolitan MagazineBy Ariel Nagi

So things didn't work out between you and your boo. If it ended badly, we don't blame you for wanting to be una loca and slash his tires...but don't. We have better solutions than sending your tios or hermanos to kick his butt. These will help you feel better and save the drama.

    1. Get a Makeover

Dye your hair or get a new cut. Buy a new outfit or those kickass shoes you've been eyeing for weeks. Focusing on you and making yourself feel good will build confidence and help you not sweat the small stuff.

    2. Go on a Date with Your Girls

Your amigas are always there, but men come and go, as we always say. Set up a spa date or go out for drinks. Studies have shown women get over breakups faster than men because we have better support systems-aka our girls.

    3. Spill it…ALL

Talking is the best therapy. Vent to your friends, mami, or whoever you trust. Getting it all out is a huge stress reliever, and forget paying for a therapist!

    3. Make a side part all the way down your head, dividing your hair into two sections.

    4. Grab a small section of the hair from the back of the right side, and add this section to the left side by folding it over with your left hand. After you've added a strand to your left side, grab a strand from the back of the left section. Fold it over and add it to the right section. Repeat this step, alternating sides.

  • How to Look Sexy Without Showing Too Much Skin

Flor de Maria RiveraBy Flor de Maria Rivera

    Dear Flor,

How can I look sexy without showing too much skin?

I always say that you don't need to show a lot of skin to look sexy. One of the biggest mistakes a lot of women make is that they wear tight clothes while showing cleavage and legs at the same time. Sexiness comes from within. If you feel good about yourself and what you are wearing, that's only going to reflect on the outside and make you look and feel fabulous! So for those of you who don't think you can be smokin' hot without showing cleavage, here are 10 quick tips and some pieces I love.

Related: How to Rock the Oxblood Trend

    1. My motto: If you want to show legs, cover up on top. If you want to show cleavage, cover your legs more. At the end of the day, you don't want to look like you're trying too hard--or worse, wind up looking like a stripper!

    2. Lace is very sexy. Think: La Perla lingerie. Put on a lacy blouse like this full length one or this cropped one and a pencil

  • 6 Popular Latin Foods Minus the Calories

    Monica BuckBy Ariel Nagi

We Latinos love our cuisine, but you have to admit pupusas and arroz dulce are not the healthiest options. Fortunately, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services dished out what ingredients and methods to use to turn a fat-packed recipe into a low-cal one (less than 500 calories each to be exact). We picked six of our faves.

    Oven-Fried Yucca

    Ingredients
1 pound fresh yucca (cassava), cut into 3-inch sections and peeled (or 1 pound peeled frozen yucca)
    Nonstick cooking oil spray

    1. In a kettle, combine the yucca with enough cold water to cover it by 1 inch. Bring the water to a boil, and slowly simmer the yucca for 20 to 30 minutes or until it is tender.
    2. Preheat oven to 350° F.
    3. Transfer the yucca with a slotted spoon to a cutting board, let it cool and cut it lengthwise into 3/4-inch-wide wedges, discarding the thin woody core.
    4. Spray cookie sheet with the nonstick cooking oil spray. Spread yucca wedges on cookie sheet, and

  • 8 Ways to Be Sexy and Classy at Work

Telemundo reporterBy Flor de Maria Rivera

The first day I showed up to work as an intern at Telemundo in San Jose, Calif., I wore a power suit. Well, for me, that meant a super mini baby blue skirt and a skin-tight blazer, along with four-inch heels. It's no wonder the news anchor still talks about my outfit, haha.

I was straight out of college back then, but once I started working as a sports anchor and reporter at Telemundo, I traded the short mini skirts for pencil skirts and a fitted blazer or sexy top. When I was in the field interviewing athletes, I opted for jeans and a nice blouse.

In the years since I left Telemundo, I've learned how to be stylish and stay within the company dress code. It was time to class up my act! Here are some tips on how to stay work appropriate and still feel like your sexy self:

    1. If your work requires you to wear a suit, make sure it's fitted and hugs you in the right places. I would go with a pencil skirt, a

Our girl Jennifer Lopez always rocks the red carpet. But, it's not just her ass-et hugging attire that keeps us mesmerized-it's her perfect "touch me" skin: clear, dewy and luminous. The man responsible for giving La Lopez her signature glow for more than 10 years, Scott Barnes, gives us the Lo-down on how we mere mortals can duplicate it.

Cosmo For Latinas: How do you create J. Lo's glow? What products do you use, and how can the average Latina do it?

Scott Barnes: I just took what she had and amplified it to create that "lit from within" glow. I wanted the whole world to see what I saw. Cream foundation is a must to achieve perfect highlighting and contouring. I like Bobbi Brown's Foundation Stick ($41, bobbibrowncosmetics.com) to sculpt and highlight your features. Guerlain Terracotta Bronzer ($50, sephora.com) will give you that tawny, sun-kissed look to make you feel like a golden goddess, and Scott Barnes Body Bling will give your body the J.
