If most of your friends are getting married this summer, you'll want to nail down an easy-yet-beautiful look to make your primping less laborious. Follow these five steps to an elegant, DIY bridal look.

    Step 1:
Start with foundation for a flawless canvas. I chose Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Weightless Foundation. Make sure you hide any under-eye circles by adding concealer, like the Cargo Jet Lag Concealer. And to make sure all that base doesn't budge, add a setting spray like Urban Decay De-Slick.

    Step 2:
Apply eyeshadow primer to ensure the longevity of your eyeshadow. I like the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer in Eden. For the next step, I used the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette, but you can choose whatever brand you prefer.

Apply a shimmering, white shadow to the inner corners of your eyes. Then take a light taupe and blend it along the crease of the eyes. Find a matte, medium-brown color and apply it to the outer corners of the eyes, and

  • VIDEO: How to Perfectly Match Foundation to Your Shade

By Charleen Gonzalez for Shine Latina

I think it's happened to the best of us: A new line of foundation catches our eye, the salesperson is friendly and convincing, and you go home with some new makeup. It looked great on you at the counter, but the next morning, before work, you find yourself colorful and splotchy in the mirror.

Consider that your past. Here are some tips to help you get the correct shade of foundation every time.

    Start with three shades

First, choose three foundation shades that you think are closest to your foundation shade. Then swipe each shade on your jawline. There is a common misconception that you can swatch for your foundation shade on your wrist. This is an incorrect way to match for your shade because your wrist is generally lighter than your face. Then after you have applied the foundation shades to your jawline look to see which one disappears into your skin tone; that is the correct shade for you.

Now even though the color might

  • VIDEO: When to Throw Out Your Makeup

By Charleen Gonzalez for Shine Latina

Cosmetics are not meant to last forever, and using them beyond their shelf life can lead to breakouts and eye infections. Longevity varies among different products, but items like mascaras and lip glosses should be thrown out every few months. I know it might seem like throwing out money, but would you eat cheese that's been expired for month? Let alone put on your face something that has been expired for a year?

    Here's the scoop.

    Mascara
I know many women who have been using the same mascara for years. Their reasoning is that it still works, so why throw it out?

The reason to throw out your mascara when it expires is because it's the one item you are putting directly near your eyes, and the bacteria built up in the mascara wand can give you an eye infection. The general rule is that mascara expires three months after you first open the tube. However, most makeup companies claim that their mascara expires in six months.

They way to tell is to

  • VIDEO: How to Clean Your Makeup Brushes

By Charleen Gonzalez for Shine Latina

Regularly cleaning your makeup brushes will help prevent breakouts and make the application process easier and more-refined. Cleaning them is easy, and you'll only need household products. Follow these steps and you'll be shine-free:

Start by wetting the brush hair with slightly warm water. You don't want the water to be hot because it can ruin the brush hairs. Make sure to only wet the bristles of the brush and not the ferrule holding the hairs into the handle of the brush. Getting water into the ferrule will dissolve the adhesives and ruin your brush

Next, grab a dab of shampoo and massage it into the bristles. Rinse and repeat the process until the water runs clear. The last step is to lay the brushes flat on a paper towel. Never allow the brushes to dry upright in a container as the leftover water will seep into the ferrule and un-glue it.

It takes around 12 hours for the bristles to dry completely, so it's best to do this process at night.

  • VIDEO: Crazy Expensive! Makeup that Will Break Your Bank

It's nice to have the top of the line. But is spending thousands on makeup worth the price? Some brands claim their products will make you look like a million bucks, but you might spend about that much in the process. Some products, I feel, are worth the splurge -- like good mascara and foundation -- but you'll have to be the judge of some of the more-expensive stuff out there.

The average mascara costs about $10, but some of the high-end alternatives can go upward of $70. But that is relatively cheap compared to a face moisturizer that goes for $1,900!

Click below for more outlandish finds.

    Mascara

I'm usually willing to spend a little extra money on good mascara. Luxury brands such as Lancome and YSL offer mascara in the $30 range that's so good, it will make your lashes look like falsies. In comparison, Chantecaille Faux Cils Longest Lash Mascara retails for $70. Considering you should throw out mascara every three months for sanitary reasons, buying Chantecaille will run you about $300 per year.

The brand claims its product lengthens and improves
