3 Innovations for Hard-to-Clean Surfaces
Several weeks ago I attended a preview of the International Home and Housewares Show (IHA) that's taking place in early March in Chicago. The exhibit gave me a sneak peek at some of the newest products launching in the coming year. Among all the appliances, gadgets and gizmos, I was very happy to see some innovative household cleaners that claim to address the problems other products can't handle. Here's what caught my eye.
Bona, the company known for its hardwood floor cleaning mops and formulas, is introducing Pet Stain Remover (left). What makes this new solution different is that it not only cleans but also kills the odor-causing bacteria other cleaners miss. Once you eliminate the odors trapped in the floor's finish, pets are less likely to soil the area again.

The next products that intrigued me are from a line of new cleaners from DuPont. Last year we evaluated DuPont's
Countertop Cleaning Wipes and were impressed. Not only do they clean stone surfaces, but they also help maintain the integrity of the sealant, an important step to repel stains. This year, DuPont is taking on granite and marble surfaces in bathrooms with its Soap Scum Remover for Natural Stone ($6.88/16 ounces, right) and Mold and Mildew Stain Remover for Natural Stone ($6.88 for 16 ounces, below left). Both products are now available on DuPont's website. Unlike traditional bathroom cleaners which caution against using on natural stone, DuPont claims these
formulas will effectively remove tough bathroom soils without harming or degrading the stone. This is great news and a long overdue innovation for anyone who's upgraded a bathroom with marble or granite!
