You know Tabatha Coffey as the no-nonsense hairstylist who turned struggling salons around on her Bravo show “Tabatha’s Salon Takeover” and now helps all types of businesses on, “Tabatha Takes Over.” She tells Ali, “I would love to take the DMV over, and the airport would be next on my list.”

But Tabatha wasn’t born the tough-love business guru she is today. “I was really obese as a child,” she tells Ali. “And we would go swimming during the summer which was mortifying because…the bathing suit, and all the kids would call me ‘orca.’”
Anyone whose seen Tabatha knows she’s far from obese these days. So what changed? “I was tired of it. A lot of vanity went into it, which is ok, because it’s a good motivator. I think now it’s just health reasons. I want to be healthy.”
She also tells Ali that she learned both her hairstyling skills and her business sense from the restaurant her parents owned when she was younger. “My parents owned strip clubs in Austral...Read More »

Ali’s husband George has been known to cry at his share of movies, and it doesn’t make her love him any less. But she knows that men, in general, don’t like to admit that a movie has made them cry, because they think it makes them lose ‘man points,’ or something. So she invited Roger Hailes from the Yahoo! Show, Mansome, to talk about which movies men will freely admit crying over.

Roger first mentioned Old Yeller because, “I don’t care if you’re the most macho dude in the world, if you watch Old Yeller, and don’t cry, you hate dogs.”
Next on the list? The football movie, Rudy. “He was small, but he had a lot of heart!’ Roger shouted, emphatically. “I spent a lot of time on the bench as an athlete, so it really hits home.”
Roger’s third tear-jerker is Deliverance. “I cried out of fear. Also I watched that movie when I was nine.”
“You were probably crying because you had horrible parents,” Ali replied.

As always, Tim Gunn is hesitant to call anything a ‘Fashion Don’t,’ because he likes to view the clothing in the context of the wearer’s personality. “The clothes we wear send a message about how we’re perceived.”
That said, sometimes looks can send confusing messages, so rather than trash celebrities, he and Ali discussed “the most perplexing” celebrity looks of all time.
High on Tim’s list is Helena Bonham Carter, whose red carpet style he finds, “a little off-putting.” He may also have whispered the phrase “hot mess.”
Also on the list is Paris Hilton. “I think we’re the butt of all her jokes,” says Tim. “She dresses to be a ridiculous cartoon character.”
WATCH: More Fashion Fails
Number one on Tim’s list, he says, has offended a lot of people in the past. To see his controversial pick, and a few celebs who always get it right, watch this episode of Daily Shot....Read More »

Alec Mapa has guest-starred in more than 40 TV series, including Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives, but what you may not know is that he's also a father.
Alec is Asian, his husband Jamison is white, and his adopted son Zion is black. “We look like the last two minutes from ‘It’s A Small World,’” he jokes.
Zion came to live with Alec and Jamison three years ago, when he was five. “We were like instant parents and we were clueless. Like I didn’t know that five-year-old boys had meltdowns at the end of the day and needed naps.”
His son had three rough weeks adjusting, “One minute he was living in Compton, in the hood. The next minute he was living with two gay guys. So it was like “Who are you, where am I, what’s gazpacho?”
“As soon as he knew he was safe and cared for, a light went off in his eyes and he became a regular kid.”
Alec hopes to encourage more people to adopt from the foster system. “People always said to me, ‘Aren’t you afraid the kids gonna have issues?’ Yeah, ‘cause...Read More »

She told Ali that a few simple food items can do wonders for skin and hair: egg white on your hair makes it shiny. Avocado is also great for hair and face. “Cucumber is great for your eyes, “ she adds. But her favorite is coconut oil, used as a hair treatment.
As for healthy summer snacking, she says, “You know what’s a good way to have a refreshing tasty treat? Frozen blueberries.” She says she and her son love that snack, as well as a special healthy muffin recipe she makes. (See below.)
