Easy cookies and cream desserts

There is just something delicious about the combination of cookies and cream. Whether it's a dish of ice cream or a candy bar, the combination is something that makes many sigh in delight. While there are many cookies and cream products in the store, you can also make several delicious recipes at home. Here are just a few yummy suggestions to get you started.

Cake Pops

Cake pops happen to be one the most popular desserts, at the moment. That doesn't mean you have to shell out big bucks though. You can easily make this delicious treat at home and give it a cookies and cream spin. To make these pops you'll need a baked 9 x 13 inch chocolate cake (the darker the chocolate, the better), a tub of vanilla frosting, white fudge candy melts and crushed sandwich cookies. Start by crumbling the cake and mixing in 3/4 of the tub of frosting. You can then shape the pops into balls and insert sucker sticks. The balls will then need to chilled for 10-15 minutes or until firm. In the meantime, melt the candy melts, then dip the chilled balls into the coating and tap to remove excess coating. Stick the cake pops in a block of foam to keep them upright and sprinkle with the crushed cookies. Allow to dry thoroughly before packing in sucker bags.

It doesn't matter if it's the middle of winter, milkshakes are always a winner. For this shake, you will need a quarter cup milk, two cups of high-quality vanilla ice cream and a half cup of chopped, double stuffed sandwich cookies. Place the ingredients in a blender and blend until the cookie pieces are small enough to make it up a straw. Pour the shake into a chilled glass and top with whipped cream, a drizzle of hot fudge and crushed cookies.

Frosted Cookies

I love sweet treats that offer a variety of textures and flavors and these cookies certainly meet those qualifications. For this cookies and cream treat, you will need a dozen soft-baked chocolate cookies, a tub of vanilla frosting and crushed sandwich cookies. Frost each cookie with a generous portion of vanilla frosting and then top with crushed cookies. These cookies are incredibly simple, which make them perfect for kids to help with. If you wanted to switch them up a bit, you could use soft-baked vanilla cookies, chocolate frosting and crushed vanilla sandwich cookies.
