Most people spend their 21st birthday by going out and partying, but Tommy Chhem decided he wanted to celebrate in a different way.
"I thought about it and I was like, most people turn 21 and they get trashed, and I don't want to be one of those people," he tells us. "I wanted to do something that mattered."
With the help of his cousin and a close family friend, the Orlando, Florida resident decided to spend his birthday purchasing 21 boxes of large pizzas and delivering them to homeless shelters and the less fortunate in his city.
"We drove around, and there was an elderly man searching for something [to eat] on the ground," says Tommy. "I gave him a box and he was so thankful."
"Some people look past the less fortunate on the streets and ignore them, but they are still humans and they just need a hand," he adds. "It gives you an overwhelming feeling to see people like that. At the end of the day, you feel like you made a difference in their lives."
