Boston Marathon Couple Shares Their Amazing Story

Recently engaged Boston Marathon survivors Pete DiMartino and Rebekah Gregory prove that love can help you get through anything. Now the inspiring couple is sharing their story with Ellen!

The couple and her son, Noah, were visiting Boston for Rebekah's birthday and to see Pete's mom run in the race. They were less than 10 feet away from the first bomb.

"I was in the hospital for 56 days," says Rebekah. "I had a total of 14 surgeries to-date. I had a lot of time on my hands to watch more TV than usual. Watching the Ellen show, actually, was my source of happiness."

Pete says, "I realized I was in love with Rebekah after Boston… after the bombing." He proposed to Rebekah six months after the April 15 attack that left them both with multiple injuries. He drove 1,600 miles from New York to Houston to surprise her with a ring.

"I was talking to Rebekah on the phone, and she said, 'I really just need you right now,'" Pete explains. "So I decided then and there, that was it, I got in the car."

"No sooner than I could wrap my head around the fact he was in Houston, he got down on his knees," recalls Rebekah. "Walking down the aisle would be a dream come true, because I would be walking down the aisle to my best friend. But to actually walk after everything that's happened, it would just be amazing."

Don't miss their appearance together on "Ellen" this Monday. You won't believe the surprise Ellen has for them!
