The iPads is one of the most popular gadgets on the market, and one of the best surprise tips you could give a restaurant worker.
Clay Lawson, 16, is a full time student who works as a busboy at the Cavalier Diner in Charlottesville, VA. The teen had worked hard and had finally saved enough money to buy an iPad for school.
Unfortunately, Clay's iPad was not long for this world -- mom accidentally threw the device in a fire pit after Clay placed it on a stack of cardboard boxes. The iPad was destroyed beyond repair.
The next morning, Clay's coworkers were discussing his bad news with one another. A customer was eavesdropping on their conversation, and inquired about Clay. The patron paid his bill and left, but returned an hour later with a gift for the busboy.
The customer, who wishes to remain anonymous, gifted him with a $360 Best Buy gift card to purchase another iPad.
"It's really amazing," the teen told WVIR. "I am still in shock that someone went out of their way to do this for a complete stranger. I'm going to try to be a better person just from learning from this experience."
Clay has since picked up his new iPad - and the knowledge to keep it in a safe place when he's not using it.
