Guess How Many Songs This Guitarist Can Play in One Minute

You may not have ever uttered "Led Zeppelin" in the same breath as "Inspector Gadget," but you will after watching this creative guitarist splice together 30 recognizable songs into a one-minute piece.

Rob Scallon, a 23-year-old professional guitarist and YouTuber from Chicago, put out this ridiculous and incredible compilation of music this week, and it quickly became a viral hit. "King of the Hill," Pantera, Santana, The Beatles, you never know what's coming, and while each song gets about two or three seconds of time, all are surprisingly recognizable.

"Someone on my previous videos commented that I should play 100 songs in a minute, and I thought it was a great idea," Scallon tells the Good News Blog. "When I started working on it, I realized that was way ambitious, and maybe not even possible. I brought it down to 60… then to 40, and then I ended on 30 because I thought it would be more entertaining if you could actually understand them."

While Scallon has been making videos since 2008, only one other video received such immediate attention. The cover piece has only been out a couple of days and already has over 100,000 views on YouTube.

"These are all riffs I've been playing for years and years, just songs that I like and remembered," he notes.

Scallon started playing the guitar when he was 10, and currently makes a living as a musician and web producer. His videos fuse music and comedy, focusing primarily on the guitar, and he's got 45,000 subscribers laughing and playing along with his games.

He put together this latest piece simply by playing riffs of popular songs as they fit into the sequence. "I started with the Mario theme because I knew that would be a crowd pleaser," Scallon remarks. "Then I noticed that riff ended on the note that "Stairway to Heaven" began on."

The young musician is also happy to throw a few comedy curveballs at his audience, playing the beginning to "every Slayer song," as well as "every Brain Drill song."

Scallon laughs, "People are going to search the band Brain Drill and their heads are going to explode."
