This Prom Proposal Prank is a High School Senior’s Biggest Nightmare, but it Worked!

One teen from Pennsylvania decided that the best way to ask his college-bound girlfriend to the prom was to almost give her a heart attack.

High school senior Caitlyn Metzker, 18, has been dating her boyfriend Dylan, also 18, for six months. She was recently accepted to the University of South Carolina, and Dylan thought it would be a hoot to send her a fake college rejection letter rescinding her acceptance to the school -- with his prom proposal tacked on at the end!

"It is clear your grades are not what they were when we accepted you," reads the letter. "We may have to pull our admissions from you due to your poor school ethic and attendance."

It goes on: "However, if you were to just agree to go to prom with your boyfriend we could reconsider letting you continue to be a South Carolina Gamecock. So what do you say, will you go to the prom with me?"

Dylan offers a tiny apology at the end: "Sorry if I scared you, hopefully you still like me and said yes to prom."

"When I first read it, I was shaking and crying thinking about not being allowed to go to my dream school," Caitlyn tells the Good News blog. It looks like she's got a soft spot for her prankster boyfriend's sense of humor -- she said yes to being his prom date!

Caitlyn will indeed be attending the University of South Carolina as a business major in the fall. Before then, she'll be going to the prom with her prankster boyfriend on May 29 -- and plotting her revenge. Says Caitlyn, "I don't have plans as of now to get him back, but I'll definitely think of something!"
