If You Want to Get Your Favorite Athlete’s Attention, Invite Him to Your Birthday Party
Any fan of the San Francisco 49ers would love to have defensive star Patrick Willis as a guest at their birthday party. Seven-year-old Elizabeth Penados of Suisun City, CA decided she wanted to do more than wish. In March, the little girl sent an invite to the NFL player to see if he'd stop by her "Frozen"-themed fete the following month.
"Dear Patrick," Elizabeth wrote on a piece of notebook paper. "I am your biggest fan. I am having a birthday party on April 26. It is going to be a Frozen party, and you are invited. I hope you can make it. From Elizabeth."
The invite was accompanied by a colored drawing by Elizabeth, who apparently considers herself the "Patrick Willis of kids."
While Willis was unfortunately unavailable to attend Elizabeth's party, he did post the sweet note online, writing, "Best invitation ever!!! Thank you Elizabeth Penados my soon to be 7yr old friend."
But his enthusiasm didn't stop there. Willis also sent Elizabeth a dozen roses and a note: "Happy birthday Elizabeth! I am sorry I couldn't make it today but I wanted to wish you a day full of fun! Thanks for being a great fan, I truly appreciate your support! - Patrick."
He shared the story on Instagram this week.
It looks like Elizabeth's plan came through! Willis is known to connect with his fans through social media, and constantly highlights notes and photos from young people who support him.
