Take a Break from Black

Black eyeliner will always be a makeup-bag staple, but try rimming your eyes with a dark navy hue such as Lancôme Le Crayon Khôl in Black Lapis. The blue undertones will make the whites of your eyes appear brighter.

Get Lush Lashes

There's no need to mess with fake fringe when you can easily pump up your own lashes. The trick is to start off with a great eyelash curler like Kevyn Aucoin's version. Then apply two coats of a lengthening and volumizing mascara like Shu Uemura Ultimate Expression Mascara. Work the brush into the roots of your lashes, then slowly drag it through to the tips. For extra oomph, lightly swipe your lower lashes.

Work Rosy Cheeks

It's tempting to pile on the bronzer during the winter months when your skin is paler than usual. Instead, warm up your complexion with a pinky-peach blush that has flecks of gold shimmer like the universally flattering, Nars Orgasm. Use a fluffy brush to swirl the blush over the apples of your cheeks. So pretty!

Get a Flawless Complexion

If you normally apply foundation with your fingers or a brush, here's a new trick to try: Dampen a high-quality makeup sponge like Alcone Non-Latex Sponges, then use it to press your base onto your skin. This will hide imperfections and even out your skin tone without it looking like you're wearing loads of makeup.

Layer Your Lip Color

For a lip look that won't budge, start by filling in your mouth with a lip "crayon," which is a hybrid of lipstick and liner. (Try Sephora Jumbo Pencil.) This will define the shape of your lips and create a long-lasting base. Blot, then apply a nonsticky gloss in a similar color to add shine and moisture.
