How to Make Turtlenecks Look Downright Chic

We saw that from Alice + Olivia's RTW fall '13 line where a simple turtleneck was paired with a stunning floral print, full skirt. But if not for editorial shoots and lookbooks, then how else can you make a turtle-tee wearable, without looking, well, frumpy? For my first look, I figured why not pair a classic with another '90s throwback: the overalls.

Overalls were huge this past season, but the turtleneck keeps them on point for fall. A simple gray turtleneck under this denim jumper makes for a casual daytime look. Throw on a pair of ankle boots and a bright tote bag in a fall hue and you're good to go.

It has a soft, romantic feel, and would be perfect for a gallery opening in North Hollywood. A pearl necklace and statement cuff finish off the look for a minimal, yet refined ensemble.

You can also style turtlenecks by layering them under button-ups and adding a military jacket, or wearing them with a fitted pencil skirt and a textured blazer. There are so many ways to add a little cool factor to that turtleneck of yours.
