Hot Off the Runway: Layering Nail Polishes at Badgley Mischka

Badgley Mischka Spring 2014For Badgley Mischka's spring/summer 2014 runway show this morning, nail artist Deborah Lippmann wanted to create an ethereal shade. She started with two coats of the creamy Blue Orchid and layered one coat of shimmery La Vie En Rose. The result was a softer, iridescent blue color. For a high-shine finish, she sealed the color with her own Gel Lab top coat.

"It's always great to have colors in your library that you can layer, because it's such a great trend, and its great to get more bang for your buck," she says. The key to layering polishes, Lippmann explains, "is to choose a super sheer shade and layer it on top of a stronger color."
