10 New, Non-Boring Ponytails

Anytime I'm running late, having a bad hair day, sense the tiniest amount of humidity in the air, or am doing any sort of physical activity, my go-to style is the ponytail. Translation: I wear ponytails a lot.

And while it's hands-down the easiest hairstyle ever (this one is a close second), it can get a tad boring, agreed? Thankfully, I found 10 new ways to spice up a traditional ponytail. Check them all out here or see five of my faves below:

Whitney Port: The Textured Pony
Whitney Port's
low, tousled pony has a tail full of texture. Just curl some sections of it and tease other parts to get the look. And those itty bitty side twists (can't you see them?) are another way to add more subtle texture near your forehead. Not so sure about those spiky pearl earrings, though ...

Lucy Liu: The Sleek Pony

Lucy Liu
plays up her exotic features with a high ponytail. Use shine spray and a paddle brush to smooth your hair back into the pony, and use a piece of hair to hide your elastic. There's nothing tackier than letting your bright pink elastic show on the red carpet.

Hayden Panettiere: The Flirty Pony

Hayden Panettiere's
long, wavy pony is so fresh and girly. (Must be the cute cheerleader in her.) To get her bangs, wrap hair around a large barrel curling iron and style them into place with your fingers.

Emmy Rossum: The Braided Pony

Emmy Rossum
puts a gorgeous spin on her curly ponytail by adding a thick braid on the side. French braid it down to the nape of your neck, and include it when you tie your ponytail. The best accessory to this look? A stunning smile, as Rossum proves here. I could take or leave the dress.

Paris Hilton: The Banded Pony

Paris Hilton
can rock the headband like no other celeb. Her straight, simple ponytail is perfect for the office, and the chic headband totally adds flair to it. Brings out the blue in her eyes, too.
