4 Gift Sets that Are Actually Chic (Very, Very Chic)

My usual stance on holiday gift sets: Please, please spare me. (I hope my boyfriend is reading this.) They're cheesy, contain more packaging than products, and you're lucky if they include one item that you actually like. This holiday season, however, I'm making four exceptions. Several beauty brands have stepped up their game with some seriously chic, luxurious gift sets that I would be thrilled to find under the tree. They don't come cheap, but hey, isn't that what wish lists are for?

Carven Le Parfum Gift Set, $119. This year, Parisian fashion house Carven launched a brand-new fragrance created by French perfume master Francis Kurkdjian. I'm obsessed. Maybe it's because I feel like a French girl when I wear it, but it's also just the perfect mix of fresh, sweet, and flowery. The holiday set includes a full-size fragrance plus a shower gel and body milk so you can enjoy the scent all day long. Buy it for your favorite Francophile--or just for yourself.

Oribe Beautiful Color Collection, $76. You could get me one Oribe product as a present and I'd be over the moon. But three? I'd enter beauty heaven. Packaged in a beautiful vintage-y box, this collection includes Oribe's Shampoo and Conditioner for Beautiful Color as well as a travel-size version of his Masque for Beautiful Color. They all feature the line's addictive signature scent that will leave you wanting to wash your hair every day of the week.

Chanel Limited Edition L'Édition Ultime Exclusive Nail Set, $375. Chanel has put together a nail-polish kit that goes above and beyond any holiday nail set I've ever seen. Not only does it contain ten of their top-selling shades-like Ballerina (a beautiful sheer pink), Vamp (their cult-favorite black cherry), and Black Satin (the prettiest black polish on the market)--but it also includes a basecoat, topcoat, and Nourishing and Rejuvenating Hand Cream. Your at-home manicures just got a whole lot fancier.

Yves Saint Laurent Love and Lacquer Reds Set, $58. I'm going to buy this for myself this weekend just so I can have it handy for my upcoming holiday parties. The Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stain in 9 is the perfect Marilyn Monroe red, with a lacquered finish that won't slip no matter how many cocktails you have. The Nail Lacquer in Vibrant Red is almost an exact match to the lip stain, allowing you to get all matchy-matchy if you want, while the mini mascara is the perfect size to stuff in a clutch for mid-evening touch-ups. The best part? These red shades are so classic they'll come in handy well past New Year's.
