4 Ways to Get Mistaken for a Celebrity at the Airport

Airports are good for three things: getting to your destination, an excuse to eat fast food (or at least that's what I tell myself), and celebrity sightings.

As a girl who loves to travel, I've caught a glimpse of a few famous stars in the past (the latest being Jessica Alba at LAX). But I'll admit it -- there have been times where I thought I spotted a celeb (she was wearing layers of scarves, larger than life sunglasses, and carrying a giant purse, c'mon!) but it turned out to be just a regular girl that looked like one. Bummer.

This got me thinking. Is it really that easy to fool someone into thinking you're a celebrity? I mean, with paparazzi stalking the airports during the holiday season, they're usually on the lookout for celebs. But how do they know who's famous and who's not? I think I've figured it out. There are four tell-tale signs of a celebrity jetsetter, and if you do it right you just may get mistaken for one ...

Minimal makeup.
Celebs like Kate Moss and Kristen Stewart have been spotted without an ounce of makeup on while traveling (while you're at it, check out these pictures of other celebs without makeup). Not that they have to worry about dark circles or puffy eyes, those huge sunglasses cover about half of their face. Note to self: invest in pair of oversized sunnies.

An easy hairstyle (complete with a hat). For example, throw your hair up in a bun like Lauren Conrad did here for a chic look to wear on the go. Celebs also usually wear a fun hat, like a trendy fedora or slouchy beanie, just in case the hairstylist can't make it that morning. To find the best hat for your face shape (and your future celeb impersonation), check out this guide.

Tons of layers.
Start with a basic white T-shirt, your favorite pair of distressed denim, and one of these celeb-worthy boots. Then pile on those layers. Scarves, loosely knitted sweaters, trench jackets, complete with a puffer coat -- the more layers you have on, the more famous you'll look.

The body language. When you enter the airport, make sure to keep your gaze downward. Have your weekender bag hanging from one arm and extend the other arm with your hand up (smart phone optional), slightly shielding your face from the paparazzi. If you're fortunate enough to be traveling with an infant, make sure to hold it close to your chest, draping a blanket over its head to protect it from bad press.

OK, so we might have been having a little bit of fun. But, what do you think of these tips? Will you try to pass for a celeb next time you're at the airport?
