5 Ways to Revamp Your Look

Have a case of the beauty blahs? Is your current makeup routine and hairstyle a total snooze? It's time to get back on the beauty track! Choose from these five how-tos to freshen up your hair, makeup or both! Plus, check out our mega makeover special.

Update Your Hair Color

Add face-framing streaks. Ask your colorist for subtle highlights around your hairline. They create a halo of warmth and instantly brighten up your complexion. Plus, they're very low-maintenance. Even if you have to cover up your grays every five or six weeks, you can just get a single process (applying one shade all over) and not have to rehighlight until the next appointment.

Alternate single process and highlights. For a sunny, golden-blond color, avoid overbleaching, which can weaken your hair. To keep your hair healthy, alternate between a single process and highlights every five to six weeks at the salon. Coloring your hair at home? If you're dyeing an already colored area, coat the roots, then in the last five minutes, comb the dye all the way through to the ends.

Try New Makeup Tricks

Take a break from black. Black eyeliner will always be a makeup-bag staple, but try rimming your eyes with a dark navy hue such as Lancôme Le Crayon Khôl in Black Lapis. The blue undertones will make the whites of your eyes appear brighter.

Get a flawless complexion.
If you normally apply foundation with your fingers or a brush, here's a new trick to try: Dampen a high-quality makeup sponge like Alcone Non-Latex Sponges, then use it to press your base onto your skin. This will hide imperfections and even out your skin tone without it looking like you're wearing loads of makeup.

Makeover Your Hair
Get bangs.Snipping a set of fringe will instantly give you a fresh new look. The most versatile bangs are long and angled so they sweep across your forehead to one side. If you want something a bit more dramatic, ask your stylist for soft, piece-y bangs (they shouldn't be too thick or heavy) that start around eye level and taper downward by your ears.
