The Ultimate Guide to Stubborn Stains
For Protein-Based Stains
The Stains: Blood, sweat, milk, eggs
Solution: 4 parts water + 1 part ammonia + 1 part peroxide + 1 part dish soap
Put a white towel or absorbent cloth under the garment with the stain. Using a Q-tip or rag dipped in solution, lightly tap on the stain, which will push it through to the cloth underneath. Rotate the absorbent cloth as the stain comes out.
For Oil-Based Stains
The Stains: Pizza, grease, baby oil, sauce
Solution: 1 part dish soap + 1 part white vinegar
Put a white towel or absorbent cloth under the garment with the stain. Using a Q-tip or rag dipped in solution, lightly tap on the stain, which will push it through to the cloth underneath. Rotate the absorbent cloth as the stain comes out. Flush garment stain area with lukewarm distilled water.
For Earth-Based Stains
The Stains: Fruit juice, tea, cola, liquor, wine
Solution #1: 3 parts water + 1 part dish soap
Solution #2: 1 part water + 1 part bleach
When the spill happens, flush it with solution #1. If the residue doesn't come out after flushing it with solution #1, try solution #2.
