6 Runway Beauty Looks You Can Actually Wear

I have a confession to make: While most people drool over the clothes at fashion week, I go gaga for the hairstyles and makeup. I just love to behold the (often crazy) looks the genius makeup artists and hairstylists come up with -- even though a lot of them are not exactly everyday life or office "friendly" (unlike these looks that will help to get you hired). But, that was not necessarily the case this season. Shockingly, many of the looks were wearable.

And during the insanity that is New York Fashion Week, I was lucky enough to get several of the top pros at the shows to share tips on how to recreate these stunning looks. Think they can't be done? Think again…

The show: Milly

The look: Bare face paired with red lips

The how-to:

Step 1: Even out your skin tone with your favorite foundation. (See the best foundations according to our editors) Camouflage dark circles or spots with concealer and set with powder.

Step 2: Sweep a flesh-colored eyeshadow on your lids and finish off with a coat of black mascara.

Step 3: Using a lip brush, apply a matte red lipstick (find the best red lip makeup for your skin tone here). Blot your lips after applying the first coat, and then apply a second for long lasting wear.

The show: Catherine Malandrino

The look: Purple smoky eyes

The how-to:

Step 1: After evening out your skin tone with foundation and sweeping on a sheer pink blush, create a shadow base by scribbling a soft black pencil eyeliner on the back of your hand, says Maybelline New York makeup artist Gato Zamora who created the look. Dab it on your lid -- from lashlines up to your creases -- using a fingertip.

Step 2: Line your top and bottom lashlines and inner rims (waterlines) with the same black pencil.

Step 3: Pat a shimmery purple shadow (try Maybelline New York Eye Studio Color Plush Silk Eyeshadow in Purple Icon, $10) over the black on top and bottom lids. Use a flat brush or your fingertip to apply.

Step 4: Finish the eyes by applying black mascara to top and bottom lashes.

Step 5: Complete your look by applying sheer pink lip gloss or balm. (But, avoid these lowest rated ones.)

The show: Reed Krakoff

The look: Deep side-parted hair with a clip

The how-to:

Step 1: Apply smoothing blow dry cream (if hair is thick or curly) or volumizing mousse (if hair is fine and straight) to wet hair. Try Matrix Design Pulse Thermo Glide Express Blowout Creme, $13 or Redken 07 Full Frame Protective Volumizing Mousse, $13.

Step 2: While hair is still wet, create a deep side part.

Step 3: Blow dry hair straight using a round brush to add soft curl to the ends.

Step 4: Spritz the top of your style with hairspray to calm any frizz or flyaways.

Luca Luca

The look: Rich crimson lips and a center-parted top knot

The how-to:

Makeup:

Step 1: Subtly define your eyes using brown shadow and liner. Apply the shadow to your lids, sweeping the color out past the outer corners of your eyes a bit. Line top and bottom lashlines with pencil liner (try Revlon Luxurious Color Eyeliner in Sueded Brown, $9.99) then blend the lines well for a softer finish.

Step 2: Finish the eyes by applying black mascara.

Step 3: Makeup artist Gucci Westman used a combination of two lipsticks to create this rich red -- the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Chocoliscious, $7.99 and Revlon Matte Lipstick in Really Red, $7.99. Start by lining and filling in your lips with long lasting red lip liner (try Revlon ColorStay Lipliner in Red, $7.99), then apply the two lipstick shades using a lip brush for precision.

The show: Charlotte Ronson

The look: Side-swept hair with peek-a-boo braids

The how-to:

Step 1: Working with dry hair, create a deep side part that extends it just past your ear. Clip the top portion of your hair (opposite your part) out of the way. A diagonal bottom section should remain hanging, says TRESemme celebrity stylist Jeanie Syfu who created the look.

Step 2: Apply mousse (try TRESemme Climate Control Mousse, $4.99) to the bottom section and blow dry hair as you brush it back to the opposite side. Spritz with hairspray for hold.

Step 3: Apply a tiny dab of smoothing cream (try TRESemme Anti-Frizz Secret Smoothing Creme, $4.75) to the hanging section and split it into two parts. Braid each of the two small sections toward the opposite side of your head starting just behind your ear. Secure the braids with small, clear elastics.

Step 4: Release the top section and brush a dollop of mousse through it. Twist it into a bun just above your ear. Secure it with a large hairpin. Gently blast the bun with heat from your blow dryer to warm it up and then let the bun fully cool.

Step 5: Remove the pin for a soft, wavy finish then apply a bit more smoothing cream before spritzing it with dry shampoo (try TRESemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo, $5.49) for even more texture.

The show:

Custo Barcelona

The look: Bare face paired with merlot-colored lips

The how-to:

Step 1: Perfect your skin with foundation and concealer. Skip the powder so that your skin remains a bit dewy, says Zamora who created the look.

Step 2: If you have light lashes, apply just a touch of mascara to the base of them to define your eyes very subtly.

Step 3: Zamora mixed a black eyeliner pencil with red lipstick to create this lip color. To replicate it, scribble a significant amount of black eyeliner onto the back of your hand and add a red lipstick to it (try Maybelline New York Color Sensational Lipstick in Ruby Star, $7.50). Apply the mixture to your lips using a lip brush.
