Alaïa and Choupette Lagerfeld Get New Shirts

Those who love Alaïa's laser-cut leather corsets and hand-carved stilettos no longer have to admire the designer from afar (or up-close in a Clueless DVD).

That's thanks to artists Dana Veraldi and Kevin Tekinel, whose label Deer Dana just released new t-shirts paying homage to the style icon. Worn by everyone from Dakota Fanning to Jay-Z, the tees boast a cult following among the fashion crowd (Chanel muse Leigh Lezark is one of the regular house models) and feature hand-drawn illustrations of culture legends like Yves Saint Laurent and Jean-Michel Basquiat. (Model Agyness Deyn also got her own Deer Dana shirt; she wore it in Time Magazine.)

The brand's newest addition is a cotton homage to Mr. Alaïa, though it wasn't always planned. "We were going to do [the late hip-hop star and Tommy Hilfiger model] Aliyah," admits Veraldi, "But we changed our minds and did Alaïa instead!"

For Spring/Summer 2013, the label also boasts a Choupette Lagerfeld tee, though the artists don't expect Karl's kitten to wear it. "Choupette probably sleeps on our t-shirt," says Tekinel, "Because she only wears Chanel."

Deer Dana t-shirts, $60 each at Colette and online at DeerDana.com.
