Alexa Chung's New PBS Series Will Teach You How To Thrift In Style

Are you one of those gals who always looks at a perfectly-put-together vintage ensemble and thinks, "Sure, it looks great on her, but I'd never be able to pull that off?" Then consider Alexa Chung your new fairy godmother of found and thrifted fashion.

The former host of MTV's It's On With Alexa Chung is getting another television series, according to this weekend's New York Times, and she'll be showing loyal fans how to snag her much-copied style at their local flea markets and secondhand shops. Here's what the Times has to say about it: "Scheduled to be broadcast on PBS next summer, 'Thrift America' might introduce Ms. Chung to a larger segment of the nation.

On the show, she and Maya Singer, the series creator and the editor of special projects for Style.com, will comb the country's consignment shops, garage sales and flea markets for old clothing, furniture, music equipment and other potential treasures to use in various creative endeavors. A few of the places they plan to visit include Orlando, Detroit, Nashville, Alabama and Brooklyn (and, on a less populist note, fashion capitals like Paris and London as well).

Think of it as 'Antiques Roadshow' meets the foodie romp 'Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations.' Ms. Singer said viewers hoping to replicate Ms. Chung's high-low style will see firsthand, 'What does Alexa Chung pull out of the crap bin at the yard sale?'"

I'll most definitely be tuning in, not only because I'm a total vintage obsessive, but because I am, in fact, dying to see "what Alexa Chung pulls out of the crap bin at a yard sale." Her quirky British style may be totally her own, but that doesn't mean I can't steal a few bits of inspiration from it!

Are you dolls big fans of thrifting and vintage shopping? What are your secrets for scoring the best stuff? Would you watch Alexa's new series to see how she does it? Discuss!
