As sexy as it gets
If you really wanted to work it (in a sophisticated way, of course), this would be the dress. There are plenty of vampy features going on here-halter, cutouts, exposed back-and yet the sum of all those parts is a dress that, while a bit risqué, is still totally refined. It kind of reminds me of the amazing black dress that Demi Moore wore in Indecent Proposal, when she's getting wined and dined on the yacht of her bazillion-dollar suitor. Even 15 years later, it's a great example of when hot and chic come together. If you want to tone it down a bit, you could try this with ballet flats for a more demure spin, or if you're going all out, heels and a flower tucked behind your ear would be the way to do it.
