Cody Simpson's New Year's resolution must've been to simply not sleep in 2014. He's just embarked on an Acoustic Sessions tour and kicked off a brand-new web series on AwesomenessTV that offers fans a behind-the-scenes look into the life of the Australian heartthrob, and immediately after the tour wraps at the end of this month, he's zipping into the studio to record his third album. In the meantime, he's also seriously considering ball-changing his way onto Dancing With the Stars. Oh, and guys? It's just the first month of the year.

There's a lot to be excited about, but Cody's particularly psyched for his unplugged 16-date tour. "You're used to going to shows and seeing traps, lights, lasers, and all sorts of bells and whistles," he says. "I've brought it back down to something that's intimate and raw." That means we'll see fewer distractions (no costume changes or dance routines here!) and more of the star's undeniable talents (pared-down guitar and seemingly flawless vocals). "I really feel much more comfortable doing it this way," he adds. "It's more true to who I am." And while the "La Dee Da" singer is evolving as an artist, the web series, XVII, is a nod to his musical beginnings. After all, before becoming a world-tour companion to none other than Justin Bieber, Cody was just a kid singing radio hits in his bedroom and uploading the videos to YouTube (though aren't we all?).

While it's hard to imagine he actually has downtime, Cody says he is "constantly writing-on tour, in the studio, even when I'm not working on an album." So we obviously had to ask whether he'll maybe, possibly be writing about his new girlfriend, who's been all over Instagram lately. "Oh, for sure. She's an inspiration," he says. "This is the first time I've been like, 'Hey, this is something that means enough to me where I don't have to hide it,' you know? She's an awesome, awesome girl."

As cute as they may be, Cody's first love will forever be his homeland-and we're not kidding. A photo of the Gold Coast skyline-complete with beach and ocean-is even the background on his phone. "It's beautiful," he says. "It keeps me from feeling homesick. It's nice to have a little taste of that while you're gone." And just like that, the dude did the impossible and became even more adorable.
