You may have heard that 17-year-old Justin Bieber chopped off his famous eyelash-grazing hair for a cleaner, more mature look. The monumental haircut cost him $750 and lost him 80,000 Twitter followers! Apparently his teen fan base cares more about his hair than his music. Which perhaps the pop sensation kept in mind.

Bieber brought his hair clippings in an autographed jar to the Ellen DeGeneres show for his February 23 appearance. "We're doing something special," Bieber told the host. "We want you to donate it to whichever charity you want." DeGeneres listed the jar of hair on eBay and naturally the bidding took off. The winning price? $40,668. Surprisingly a wealthy teen didn't set her dad up to make the purchase as far as we can tell. The winning bidder was online casino GoldenPalace.com. All proceeds will go to the Gentle Barn Foundation, which rescues and rehabilitates animals in need of care. A haircut for a good cause! We love it.

DeGeneres has sold personal celebrity items for charity in the past as well. She listed Elvis Presley's hair clippings, which sold for $15,000, and Adam Lambert's underwear reached $10,000 at auction. Ellen also put one of Gwen Stefani's tour costume up for bid and raised $5,000.

If you could bid on any celebrity fashion or beauty item at auction, what would it be and what's the most you would pay for it?
