Ke$ha's the kind of pop star the world could use more of. Not only is she always true to herself (as her endearingly off-the-wall red carpet get-ups frequently prove), but she encourages fans to do the same. From her candid Instagrams to her you-do-you hits to her unscripted MTV series, the girl couldn't be more real. Which is why we're both saddened and inspired by the recent news that she's entered rehab for an eating disorder.

"I'm a crusader for being yourself and loving yourself but I've found it hard to practice," she announced. "I'll be unavailable for the next 30 days, seeking treatment for my eating disorder...to learn to love myself again. Exactly as I am."

Ke$ha deserves a million high fives for owning up to her struggle and getting the help she needs. "Eating disorders are serious medical and psychiatric conditions that can threaten a person's survival," explains Gail Purvis, director of the Renfrew Center of New York, an eating disorder treatment facility. Furthermore, they can affect anyone, from the health nut to the food fanatic to everyone in between.

If you know someone struggling with an eating disorder-or if you think you might have one yourself-check out the National Eating Disorders Association, a non-profit organization with recovery resources, toll-free helplines, and more.
