There are 21 days until the new year, but I'm actually counting down the 26 long days until the season-four premiere of Downton Abbey. So many questions unanswered, like how's little Sybbie doing? What about Edith and her married man? And how will Lady Mary take the TRAGIC news (seriously, I'm still not over it yet). But in the meantime (and in real life), Michelle Dockery, who plays Lady Mary, looked bright and cheerful in New York City yesterday--all while nailing an eclectically elegant and very London-girl-chic outfit.

One may argue that her light outer layer and bare legs weren't necessarily weather-appropriate for such a wet and snowy morning, but Michelle did look divine. Her flirtatious floral printed Erdem trench and white Rupert Sanderson Elba pumps (which, like ivory frocks, are totally OK to wear all year round) do recall warmer, balmier days, but the deep orange Carven dress underneath brings a seasonal feel to the outfit. Hey, fashion isn't always functional, but it should be fun!

The bonus to a cheerfully printed trench: You can wear it through the spring. Shop out some Michelle-inspired styles here.

Do you like how Michelle put her outfit together? What look cheers you up on a dreary winter day?
