While everyone awaits what Kate Middleton will wear down the aisle (possibly a dress by Sophie Cranston), her mother, Carole Middleton, is faced with a tough wardrobe choice herself. Experts expect about 2.5 million viewers to tune into the royal wedding on April 29, and the 56-year-old mother of the bride also wants to look her best. According to the Daily Mail, Carole Middleton selected Kensington-based designer Lindka Cierach to design the dress and jacket she'd wear to her daughter's nuptials shortly after Kate and Prince William made their engagement announcement. (Cierach is best known for designing Sarah Ferguson's wedding gown.) Now after months of fittings, it seems Middleton has backed out of the arrangement.

According to reports, Middleton found Cierach "unaccommodating" as she refused to let Carole take the unfinished outfit home to try on and show to a few friends. A source told the Daily Mail Cierach is "completely bemused" by Middleton's decision "after all the hard work she had put into creating the outfit." Sure, Carole is not the bride, but we can understand her wanting to show the design to a few trusted friends for a second opinion. And after all the constantly changing rumors and discussion surrounding Kate Middleton's dress designs we're also not shocked to hear that her mother is now switching up her wedding day attire.

On the other hand, a fashion insider felt Carole Middleton's last-minute switch was out of line and told the Daily Mail, "it's unheard of for a couturier to allow something out of their studio unfinished." With paparazzi and reporters stalking the Middletons for a glimpse of virtually anything top secret, we'd imagine the designer would not want her garments photographed prematurely, especially if they weren't completed.

Now we're even more eager to see the final dress designs for both Kate Middleton and her mother, and admittedly are completely swept up in royal wedding mania, but with all the rumors swirling, perhaps it's best to sit back and wait to see what they actually decide to wear on April 29. (Can it hurry up and get here already? We're losing our patience!)
