We’d imagine that Angelina Jolie was cast as Cleopatra in an upcoming film based largely on her beauty and sex appeal, but Jolie doesn’t seem to think so. After researching the character, the actresses told the Telegraph that “I thought it was all about the glamour, but then I read about [Cleopatra] and she was a very strong mother, she spoke five languages and she was a leader." Hold up. Clearly you can be a mother, a leader, and glamorousâ€"Jolie, of all people, should know this. But apparently she’s decided that the Egyptian pharaoh “is very interesting, but she wasn't a great beauty." She tells the Telegraph, “we are trying to get into a different truth about her as a pharaoh in history and not a sex symbol, because she really wasn't.†Hmm. Was Angelina really hired to play Cleopatra as a non-sexy, non-beautiful woman? Will she have to uglify herself for the role?
