The People have spoken! The 2014 nominees for the awards show-which is one of the coolest because it combines all things that are awesome in entertainment, from movies to music to TV-have been announced, and there's tons of big news across all the categories. For starters, 1D is nominated! But, surprisingly, Justin Bieber is not. Selena and Demi are both in the running, but Miley is nowhere to be found. In other words: Conversation-starters!

There are at least a gazillion categories, so read ahead for our cliff notes-because we know you're busy and stuff:

Who scored big on the big-screen: Scarlett Johansson is up for "favorite movie actress," Emma Stone's in the running for "favorite dramatic movie actress," and Emma Watson scored a nomination for "favorite comedic movie actress." Yep, you read that right-Ms. Stone, who's best known for her funny-girl roles, is being recognized for her more serious gigs, while the Harry Potter heroine, who took a break from all those acting-with-a-capital-a jobs to do a cameo for This Is the End, is being acknowledged for her totally underrated hilarity.

What you need to know about TV nominations: Currently in its fifth season, Glee snagged eight total nominations. Wowza! Chris Colfer and Darren Criss will go head-to-head in the "favorite comedic TV actor" category, though the duo also landed a joint nomination for their "on-screen chemistry" as Kurt and Blaine. Lea Michele got a nod for "favorite comedic TV actress," alongside the seriously underrated New Girl fave Zooey Deschanel. Also? Awkward got a little love for "favorite cable TV comedy," Pretty Little Liars is in the running for "favorite cable TV drama," and Lena Dunham's hilarious albeit divisive hit series Girls is up for "favorite premium cable TV show."

And on the music front: One Direction's up for "favorite band" (not like that's a surprise), Taylor Swift scored a nomination for "favorite country artist," and Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, and Katy Perry will all duke it out for the "favorite female artist" honor. And as for male artist, Justin Timberlake was selected, though your other favorite Justin-Biebs, obv!-is noticeably absent. Clearly The People haven't been listening to his recent releases.

Anyway, voting kicks off today so support your picks (because rock the vote, every voice counts, etc., etc.), and tune in for the live broadcast on January 8th to find out who's going to take home all of those trophies.
