For the premiere of her film, Laggies, at the Sundance Film Festival, actress (and former Teen Vogue cover girl!) Chloë Grace Moretz hit the red carpet in an embroidered Christopher Kane frock, which she smartly paired with a black turtleneck-ideal for bracing the Utah cold! The high neck, of course, called for an updo, so stylist Kerrie Urban whipped up her version of a high-fashion top knot.

Granted, Chloë got the full A-list treatment, beginning with a shampoo and a blow-dry, but for those of us without a celebrity hair guru on speed dial, a top knot is the ultimate lazy girl hairstyle. Day-old hair? Even better. "This particular look is perfect for the girl who doesn't have time to shampoo," Urban insists.

Begin by flipping your head upside down and blasting your roots with a bit of dry shampoo (for a fluffy, volumized effect, try Oribe Dry Texture Spray-especially if you have fine hair!). "Lightly tease along the top of your crown and hairline," she adds. "With your hands, gently smooth your hair into a high pony and secure with an elastic. Finally, tease the whole ponytail and wrap it into a bun high on the head."

Easy, right? Plus, if you're a rookie at backcombing, a texture spray will help add volume so you can do less work. After you spray a section, simply tousle the scalp with your fingers so you get an added lift. "Bobby pin everything into place, and tug the bun so it isn't too tight. Pull a few pieces out in the front of your head so it looks natural," she says. Chloë's look was finished with Leonor Greyl's Spray Structure Naturelle, a super light-hold finishing spray that doesn't get crunchy (think of it as non-hairspray hairspray-it's genius).

If you're curly-haired, you can skip the teasing step altogether. "Go right for the dry shampoo to get the texture you need," Urban says. DevaCurl's No-Poo Quick Cleanser was made just for girls with curls-it has conditioning agents so your hair doesn't get dry over time, which is necessary year-round, but especially in the winter.
