DIY Laundry: You Won't Regret It

After being massively let down by virtually every dry cleaner in my neighborhood (clothes returned with holes or discoloration that made them look like they'd been acid-washed) and spending a small fortune in the process, I've started handwashing everything I can. These days, pretty much all my knitwear goes into my bathroom sink along with a couple of capfuls of this Wool & Cashmere Shampoo by the Laundress. It's free of harsh chemicals, leaves sweaters really soft, and is laced with cedar extracts that smell amazing and also act as a natural moth repellent. If you've never handwashed a sweater before, click here to watch a step-by-step video on how to do it.

(PS: Though the Laundress girls suggest soaking garments for two hours, I tend to get impatient. In my experience, 15 minutes or so is fine.)
